I'm still not really sure what I think of the movie. There are parts I really loved, there are parts I really hated, I might need to watch it a second time.

I keep forgetting that this movie came out like ten years ago and some of you were like 7.  That really makes me feel old.

Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 08-09-2009

The Boys from Brazil is an great thriller if anyone is interested. Ending sucked though.

It's almost required to watch it a second time, with the twist in mind, so you can really watch Tyler Durden's schism progress.

FYI, the book is heaps better.

Fight Club is the only movie I've ever seen that I actually liked better than the book. The ending was better, and the mindfuck is much more effective when you've been watching two actual people interact with each other.

Actually I also liked Minority Report more than the short story it's based off of, but other than the initial plot set-up the movie is completely different.

Saw 500 days of summer. Found it to be very realistic.

too realistic... =\  It's serisouly the first movie that I consider to be a anti-chick flick... it's like a chick flick for dudes.  Actually realistically shows how guys feel at the end - pretty rare in movies - wonder if women really connected to the emotions

Re: The Movie Thread - Surf314 - 08-10-2009

I've been talking with people about how it seems like our generation has a kind of romantic gender role reversal going on(as seen in 500 days of summer). Anyways here is another really good example:

Hotel Chevalier - by Wes Anderson - Pt. 1 of 2

You may have even seen it without realizing that the guy acts very much in a way you would expect a woman to and the woman acts very much in a way that you would expect a man to. I personally don't think there is anything wrong with this, but I do think it's very interesting how open and almost unnoticeable it has become in popular culture.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=TBTC

Our mission here at TBTC is simple....

To regain male dominance in the race for sexual control...

For almost the last century females have been leading this movement. It wasn't always that way though. Think back in time, when men reigned supreme and women threw themselves at us. Clearly women have gained some respect, and rightfully so. This movement is not designed to send women back to the kitchen at all. No sir, the point of this mission is to put a cap on what women can control. The current state of affairs is a sad one, we see men committing terrible crimes against one another for a helping of some bearded clam. Well, fellas, that hatchet wound you call heaven can give life just as easy as take it.

Women have slowly gained control of the sexual realm by using the one thing they have that we don't, self control. A woman can manage her desires, a man cannot, until now.

Men, do you enjoy being made a fool of? How many times have you thought "I'm so in with this one" only to be sent home with a blue balled chubber and a slacking confidence?

Can you imagine what life would be like if women no longer had power over the decision? It would be a new world, I can tell you that. If you TBTC, Take Back The Cock, you will see how quickly you can rock the foundation of clitoral confidence.

Next time a girl is giving you all the signs that she wants to go home and do the nasty, do the unthinkable, leave her standing in her damp panties wondering what the fuck just happened. Before you laugh fellas, how many women have you met at the club, danced with all night, made out, felt up and what not, then all of a sudden they leave with their troop and you go home to release, alone.

Well, next time, you be the one who leaves. Say something to let them know we are back and the movement is here...

"Listen honey, I'm outta here, if we go home you're going to more than likely back off and wanna makeout all night. If I go home alone, I'll score for sure"

or

"Sweety, I'll get more action alone with a Spanish soap opera than with you"

I know it sounds hard, your mission, should you choose to accept it is not an easy one. There will be times you cannot help yourself, these times will occur and they are OK. This is a place for the TBTC members to come together and discuss strategies, stories, success', and failures together. So, without further comment, welcome and good luck. Gentlemen, lets TBTC.

It's almost required to watch it a second time, with the twist in mind, so you can really watch Tyler Durden's schism progress.

FYI, the book is heaps better.

I'm pretty sure it was because Brad Pitt was in it Smile

Re: The Movie Thread - Surf314 - 08-14-2009

Dammit too many good movies opening this weekend. I desperately want to see both Ponyo and District 9.

Re: The Movie Thread - Scary Womanizing Pig Mask - 08-14-2009

District 9 was so good! Very dark though.

After watching it again, I think it's good. Not one of the best, but definitely worth watching again.

Also, hopefully going to see District 9 tonight.
