I know the feeling. You just need a break from gaming. Trust me, you'll benefit from it. Spend a month either cutting down on gametime or avoiding it completely. Try to hang out with friends, watch some movies, catch up on homework, look for work, etc.
Good idea.
Or you can try playing a different game with a different mechanic. being hooked on league of legends for a long time made me appreciate tf2 a lot more when I came back. I thought I could die for a second and it almost felt comfortable when I let myself feel faint for a moment. I think the shock of catching myself thinking and feeling that allowed me to move into a position where I could breath freely again and was fully conscious. I almost always retain enough awareness and control in a dream to be able to calm myself or wake myself up when things start to go awry. Even in my previous experiences with sleep paralysis, all of which have happened within the year, oddly enough, I've been able to prevent things from going into full hallucination mode. And Kirby, it's not like a good trip. I've known people who do hallucinate fully like that sometimes and it's... bad.
This has only happened to me once, and it was at college last year. Sleeping on my stomach, thought I was awake but absolutely could not move no matter what. Pretty freaked out. Took a minute to break free.
Watch out, Popo Bawa is gonna get you.
Supposedly the person who was in-charge of the deal feels really bad about this, so they were up all night looking at apartments/condo's. She found 3 or 4 and she said we would decide on one today so we can get moved in this weekend. So who knows, maybe this was for the better. Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - kaese - 08-25-2011 (08-23-2011, 08:39 PM)Squishy link Wrote: I actually found out what causes sleep paralysis to be so terrifying awhile back. Regardless if it's a nightmare or not, sleep paralysis occurs when you awake, but your body is still in low functioning mode, so you can't move. Your brain is also still processing the dream you're currently having, so it makes it hyper-real, like a hallucination, and since you can't move, you're extremely sensitive to the imagery since it's the only thing you can concentrate on. Oh, I used to experience sleep paralysis a lot when I was younger but not so much any more. It's a bit traumatizing even after fully waking up since I used to replay the waking up (or lack off, really) process i.e. "the hallucinations" over and over again in my mind. Sleep paralysis is pretty fascinating and I kind of wish I could experience it again now... A FML I had recently was when I went to go to the bathroom in a Pizza Hut in some random Chinese city for a food pit stop, and there were only two stalls in the restaurant for women. One was apparently out of order and the other one, well, somebody had mis-aimed their #3Â >Â and I thought I was hungry... Not sure why, but it seems it could be related to dairy; hooray. I fucking LOVE cheese, looks like I can't have it now.I don't know for sure, but if the reaction is to lactose at all, you should be fine with cheese. Ask a doctor. Cheese cultures alter the milk a lot and so you could be OK with it.
Turns out it was probably related more to stress about going back to work after being out for a month than anything. And the walk home in the 30+ heat didn't help, as that's one of the big things I'm NOT supposed to do, but don't really have much choice about. It's getting better again despite some dairy here and there. I'm sure it's most likely the stress as I can worry hard about ANYTHING. Dunno if it'll actually help your stress. Carl Sagan smoked weed. Your argument is invalid. Also, I would definitely say that weed relaxes me mentally, physically, and spiritually. Not that I'm a very stressed person to begin with; I go out of my way to not worry about things because worrying doesn't help a problem, it just makes you feel bad. You'd be surprised how many negative emotions you can "psych" yourself out of through pure will power. Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Coelit - 08-26-2011 When I got back from hanging out with my gf I found both of my doors where open and my cat was gone. I found Aeris thank fucking god but I have no idea if someone has stolen from us yet, spent about 2 hours looking for my cat... but her safe is the important thing. Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Coelit - 08-26-2011 Quote: You'd be surprised how many negative emotions you can "psych" yourself out of through pure will power. Yup. Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Luinbariel - 08-26-2011 If it were as easy as talking or willing myself out of it all of the time, I'd do that. But it isn't just as easy as "getting over it" sometimes. There's a lot of shit I'm facing and my life is changing a lot (and no I'm not talking about the first world cheese problem, which was solved anyway). I'm talking about everything else. Maybe I'll try it, not sure. I had the chance two weeks ago but I turned it down (weed). If I wanted it again I can just ask my co worker I guess. I'm trying to reduce my stress as much as I can on my own first, and I can see changes in my skin flare up that are indicating it is (slowly) working. Just gotta stop fucking gritting my teeth all the time.
