I did as well. If it lets me play at midnight on the 26th I am going to stay up all night.

edit: preload date for d2d, impulse, etc. is the 22nd, I imagine it will be the same for steam

Re: Mass Effect 2: Pre-Loading - Evil Cheese - 01-20-2010

I have to agree with KorJax. The story was awesome, but the way the game was designed left a bad taste in my mouth. I might pick it when it drops in price unless some of the game mechanics have been vastly improved.

I haven't watched this new launch trailer yet. I hear it is rife with spoilers. I also hear that it is one of the greatest trailers ever. Click at your own risk.

Edit: Oh, and the game has been leaked so be wary of people posting even more crazy spoilers.

The Sy vs Fy special is more spoilerific than this, this is perfectly safe to watch compared to anything else.

steam preload is up

Re: Mass Effect 2: Pre-Loading - Spore - 01-24-2010

All the files are now on my computer. They are just locked away until Tuesday ):

Re: Mass Effect 2: Pre-Loading - BS1 - 01-24-2010

I completed my pre-load last night.

I am too lazy to complete Mass Effect again for a save file. I guess I will just use the default character in Mass Effect 2.

Re: Mass Effect 2: Pre-Loading - Kor - 01-24-2010

Aquired this late last night, have been playing it for the last 6 hours straight. Without spoiling too much into it, combat is far cleaner; no more excessive pause ring usage, Targeting matters(HS/Limb shots are possible now), cover system is vastly improved, Squad AI is much smarter. Writing is much cleaner, convo wheel selections can be skipped through now, and characters have much better development. Scanning systems isn't a bore, and is made worthwhile. Weapon system is simplified, but expanded.. You'll see what I mean in the first few hours.

Bioware succeeded in every fashion as far as I can tell.

Protip: It's astoundingly worth it to import a ME1 character.

I gave Kor +1 just because he is awesome.

Eh, I'll play through it the first time, then go back and do another ME1 playthrough and use that.

Re: Mass Effect 2: Pre-Loading - Versus - 01-24-2010

So glad I beat ME1 again.

Re: Mass Effect 2: Pre-Loading - Squishy3 - 01-24-2010

I played through it twice since the steam sale. Granted it's all I played when I had free time, so yeah.

Re: Mass Effect 2: Pre-Loading - KorJax - 01-24-2010

Why is it worth it to import?

Bonuses when you start if you're level 50 or above, it transfers over all your decisions and paragon/renagade points. Some decisions aren't used in ME2, but are transferred over anyway to be used in ME3.

Caved and bought it.  :-\ ;D Sad

Re: Mass Effect 2: Pre-Loading - Surf314 - 01-25-2010

Quote:I decided to ask Chris Priestly, Bioware Community Coordinator Person, exactly to what extent I was fucked on this. I've read quite a bit on how you can bring over your old character, which is obviously a much appreciated nod to a bygone RPG era, but I haven't read much about my own situation. It's a little more broad than you'd think, because there are many reasons why you might not have access to a file from two fucking years ago. I was shocked to hear his reply: that they had fully accounted for this. When creating a new character, you can go down a list of key decisions and set them manually.

I exhaled, then, a stale and depleted breath which I had apparently been holding for more than a year.

Thank god. Also seems like PC version is greatly superior?
