Re: My new more-awesomesauce computer - copulatingduck - 04-05-2010 burning gibs are best when you set all deaths to be gibs Re: My new more-awesomesauce computer - Didzo - 04-05-2010 I have a present for anyone who can tell me whether it's worth it to go with all of the enhancements I listed, as I am too lazy to figure out each one myself. Using the one you listed, I chopped out some: cl_burninggibs 1 cl_detailfade 0 cl_new_impact_effects 1 cl_ragdoll_collide 1 cl_smooth 1 cl_threaded_bone_setup 1 cl_threaded_client_leaf_system 1 dsp_enhance_stereo 1 mat_aaquality 8 mat_antialiasing 16 mat_antialinis 16 mat_bumpmap 1 mat_clipz 0 mat_hdr_tonemapscale 16 mat_picmip -10 mat_specular 1 mp_usehwmmodels 1 mp_usehwmvcds 1 r_fastzreject 1 r_lod 0 r_threaded_client_shadow_manager 1 r_threaded_particles 1 r_threaded_renderables 1 r_waterforceexpensive 1 snd_mixahead 0 I clipped off the detaildist because I don't snipe often and really don't pay attention to that far in the distance while it gave me a moderate FPS hit. All of the detaildist execs relate to how good stuff looks when it's really far away compared to what's next to you. I didn't notice a different but my FPS did. You probably won't. Anything mat_ relates to textures and graphics, use them unless they cause crashes. Most of what's in there is obvious from looking at the name, but anything that's _threaded_ in the cvar means it's set to take advantage of the multiple cores in your CPU. Read: better performance on multi-cores. snd_mixahead I changed to 0 because it caused audio lag when doing anything like firing guns, might not for you. Should clear everything up Re: My new more-awesomesauce computer - Vandamguy - 04-06-2010 @gump: idea, write a tf2 tweak guide for front page. Re: My new more-awesomesauce computer - copulatingduck - 04-06-2010 if u do u have to include a bit about using fps configs (more's and quantum's are the most popular) for all the people with older machines Re: My new more-awesomesauce computer - Gump - 04-06-2010 (04-06-2010, 11:46 AM)Vandamguy link Wrote: @gump: idea, write a tf2 tweak guide for front page. This is pretty simple stuff that you can google, but I'll consider it Re: My new more-awesomesauce computer - Didzo - 04-07-2010 I tried the longer (Gump edited) list, but it seems to make my FPS nosedive. Re: My new more-awesomesauce computer - Gump - 04-08-2010 Yup, there are some commands in there that will own it, experiment with the threaded commands to see what works for you |
