The thing in that guide that stuck with me is that people will know how much to lead your mech when you're running at 100%... but now that people have adopted the 50% rule of thumb, your better opponents have learned to draw a bead pretty reliably on a mech at 50% throttle, so stick it at 55% instead.

I've got 5 presets for speed (Livesaver in tanks that don't hold your speed when you let off W)

0%

5% (For ultra low idle long range firefighting, with only 5% you can stop in 1 step, aka instantly, to dodge incoming PCC/Gauss that were fired with a very slight lead)

42% (ololol ofc I chose 42% instead of 50)

75% and 90%

Also, how does everyone have their firing settings set up?

I've got mouse 1,2,3,4,5 set to fire their individual weapon groups (Do any 'mechs even USE FG5? Highest I've seen is 4, and that's normally a NARC)

Also is it as incredibly annoying to anyone else that they have multi-range lasers all grouped together? I'd love to be able to fire my 350m range pulse lasers independently of those 800m range beams, not to mention having a PCC fire off when I'm close range blasting someone with lasers and all of a sudden the PCC triggers too, and totally misses.

Hell, I used to use every group up to 8 in Mercenaries so I could fire individual weapon systems even if I had multiples of the same weapon. Much better for heat management.

Also playing last night, I can't remember the guy's name but he was obviously a good aero pilot (aero is fucking gay) who seemed to take a particular fancy for blowing my ass up diving with a Stella. After like 6 times popping my ass when I was preoccupied with something else, I swapped to a Huit Prime and hid in a building until I heard him pop someone really close to the base we were defending, rolled out and got many lulz as I shredded his Stella to shit. He never got to get another kill after that because he quit~~
[/quote]

I'm pretty damn sure that dude in the aero is using a throttle/joystick combo.

You can change your weapon groupings you know Kirby

Use the arrow keys plus the numpad enter key to change weapon groupings on the fly. These groupings will save next time you jump into that mech too.

If it's not numpad enter, I'll be normal enter.

I'm going to try that; I need to get this shit mapped up for my n52 but Win7 hates the d-pad on this so I'm doing
  • WASD to move
  • 1234 to fire groups
  • X and C to control battle armor RCS thrusters (also C to purge coolant)
  • (4 blank keys left for...?)

I had no idea. You fucking rock KorJax.

I had actually unbound the arrow keys from that function because I assumed they were for idiots trying to select groups to fire on the fly with arrow keys for firing, not remapping them.

omgomgomgomgomg the facerape is going to be fuuuun now.

I've gotten to the point where I can keep a positive KDR driving either tanks or 'mechs, and this is only going to increase my ability to apply appropriate damage.

Time to set up a local server with cbill start of like 200000 so I can remap everything

Re: Mechwarrior Wednesday - Kirby - 06-13-2011

Ohhhh man.

With shit remapped, things just skr8 melt

Also I found that aero pilot again, his name was Drakon.

He's a giant fag, too. Him and myself were both on IS, playing on Mirage, most balanced round I've ever seen. Both teams had whittled each other down to about a dozen tickets, when the clan quite literally rickrolled our front line with 3 Thanny C's and a pair of beatsticks behind them, all of a sudden we're out of tickets, and Drakon is sitting on the clan side shit talking to IS about losing.

Do yourself a favor and buy an Epona C, Fafnir A & B and Blood Asp A, those are the new highlights.

-edit-

Oh yeah, and no more patching version to version in sequence if you're doing a fresh install. ;D

Re: Mechwarrior Wednesday - at0m - 05-12-2012

The autopatcher takes care of that, I noticed.

didn't get to play dustbowl but did play for a little bit yesterday. Apparently all the light mechs are made of tissue paper now. I got roasted in an uller after one missile salvo from a Ryoken
