Looks like he actually is going to get an extinguisher.

Ok, the new maps have been matlocked:

cp_fastlane - This looks real good, how has this escaped our custom nights?
ctf_turbine - A new CTF map which I don't remember playing but it looks nice if a bit grey...

I'm looking forward to burning you people on these!

Re: Pyro Achivements on Thursday? - Budr - 06-18-2008

Turbine's been about forever, I'm sure I've played with you on it Ain

*cries* Sad

Old map, not fun. Only way from one base to the other is by one open room, which makes it pretty easy to keep a whole team pinned down for awhile. Think 2fort but minus the sewers/water. If there was an alternate route I'm sure I'd like it more, but as is it's probably my least favourite ctf map.

That would be badass.

and freakin Turbine as a "new release"? Maybe it will have some tweaks..hopefully.

Edit: Ahem, http://www.steampowered.com/pyro/?pw=presspreview

Agreed. Turbine is pretty awful for a full server. It does handle smaller crowds pretty well though.

Re: Pyro Achivements on Thursday? - Kor - 06-18-2008

Sigh Turbine. I have been pushing to get this server killer off rotation for weeks now Sad

Now it won't be a killer anymore???

I admit there are much better choices but turbine isnt too bad.

It's flawed in the sense that there's sizing issues with both paths, which creates turtle defenses. The map maybe balanced, but its has no flow Sad

Maybe it plays incredible with the pyro update?  I could see it as showing off his (or her) new skills.

Re: Pyro Achivements on Thursday? - Vandamguy - 06-18-2008

fuck your optomism , that map disgusts me

Re: Pyro Achivements on Thursday? - cbre88x - 06-18-2008

I'm hoping for changes small changes that'll create flow, but I doubt it.

Re: Pyro Achivements on Thursday? - HuckBerryGee - 06-18-2008

Agreed. That map hardly shows off "the great work being done by the community"

LOOK YOU GUYS, I MADE A BOX WITH SOME SHIPPING CONTAINERS AND INTEL ON OPPOSITE SIDES!

Re: Pyro Achivements on Thursday? - Kor - 06-18-2008

The realy problem is there's a lack of good ctf style maps. Just take a look at our maplist.

Re: Pyro Achivements on Thursday? - Budr - 06-18-2008

Everyone seems to splooge over Mach4

Because it's really good. With the different paths it's not too difficult for any class to move in the courtyard from one base to another. Getting that final push to grab the intel is a challenge, but it's supposed to be. Whereas in Turbine it's too easy to completely control the middle with the right players (like a good sniper or two), leaving the entire other team sitting in their base to turtle up.

Mach4 is the non-shitty 2fort IMO.  Only thing 2fort is good for is melee whoring, because its the only map that going all melee will probably get you more kills than playing regularly.

Re: Pyro Achivements on Thursday? - Ianki - 06-18-2008

from steam news page:

"By hitting the alt-fire key, the Pyro is able to produce a blast of compressed air that knocks enemies away, and redirects enemy projectiles. It’s a highly versatile tool, allowing Pyros to get away from nearby enemies after igniting them, to kill enemy soldiers with their own rockets, or to separate enemy Medics from their healing targets. In particular, it allows a skilled Pyro to contain an enemy invulnerability push, and even to separate the Medic completely if the surrounding terrain supports it."

Breaks already broken thousand foot drop in steal. *sigh*
