If there is a map editor I might go with PC, I like to try and involve my wife though because she often has fun playing games with me and its harder on PC.  This is one of those games I think she'd like.

Also Mirrors Edge is definitely more of a console game by the looks of it.

It looks like a first person PoP, which I thought was much better on consoles.

There is a glaring flaw to this argument.
How so? It's in the first person... all the running and platforming aspects reminds me of the recent Prince of Persia games... and the combat looks like it'll look cool but play like shit. Smile

Re: Release Date Schedule - Surf314 - 08-08-2008

The combat is supposed to be minimized on purpose as the game is about running and speed and not being an inhuman killing machine, those play styles seem like they are better suited to a controller to me as the main drawback of a controller is aiming.

thats -1 to a console, leaving a pc the better choice with your argument.
the consoles are no better to move with than a pc.

I'd disagree on that point.  Controllers are more tactile and are better for complicated quick motions.  This is why you'd never play a fighter on a PC and platformers will always be more at home on consoles.  They are much less precise than a mouse though and dont have as many buttons to work with for complicated games (ie mechwarrior, god what happened to that game  :'().

But if you have a game that doesn't need the buttons or the aiming precision it will be a wash, and if you need tactile controls of the ability to do quick complicated motions a controller is superior.  This just seems like a game better suited for a controller.  You can still hook up a controller to a PC if you'd rather play there for other reasons....but I have an insanely comfortable couch.

Complicated quick motions? Like aiming and twitch reaction?

Sorry, also the fact that if you really really want to you can hook a controller up to a PC also trumps this

Re: Release Date Schedule - copulatingduck - 08-08-2008

To be fair, it's like Surf says. There's some motions that ARE better suited to a console. With a PC, you have 8 directions you can move, and 2 speeds if you're lucky (walk and run). With consoles, you can actually move in pretty much any direction you want and move as slowly or as quickly as you want. And if we're talking single-player experiences, you don't generally need crazy twitch reflexes to finish a game anyways (not counting CoD4 here, god damn that game). So +1 to Surf.

Someone needs to put thumbsticks on a keyboard.

Mouse nipples?

Re: Release Date Schedule - Surf314 - 08-08-2008

By complicated quick motions I didn't mean precision motions like you need a mouse for.  But like duck said there is a wider range of motions possible with a controller, and the motions required for a fighting game or a platformer are inferior on a keyboard and mouse.  Also ME looks to be more based around a platformer.

also don't care what anybody says, BK: Nuts and Bolts will be fucking awesome

Don't lie to yourself man.

RARE hasn't made a good game since Conker, and even that wasn't great.

IMO: Viva Pinata doesn't count.
karth, I love you and all, but get your head out of your ass. Kameo and PDZ weren't great, but they were still good games. people are so fucking retarded nowadays, yes they aren't related gameplay wise to anything else they've done, but it's a fresh idea, and it definitely is worth a playthrough. especially with how cheap they are now. BK: Nuts and Bolts will be fucking awesome, and I'm going to laugh when it gets extremely good reviews and praise.

also why the fuck doesn't viva pinata count? it's one of my favorite 360 games, and I still play it a lot, even though I got it when it first came out.

Fallout 3 on the 28th!

I'm the only one excited for the new prince of persia game?

Nope, I was very pleasantly surprised by what I saw.  Thought the series would be on the decline for sure, instead they pull this awesome looking cel-shaded shit.

I just saw this and I would have to agree.

Re: Release Date Schedule - Surf314 - 09-08-2008

Games I want this month (September):

STALKER CS I heard it's still buggy as hell
Spore Shitty DRM and stripped down gameplay possibly to make the way for expansion packs and DLC?
Star Wars: TFU I read a less than stellar review from PA.  Gabe might not even finish it, I only read books with Star Wars on the cover Gabe.
Infinite Undiscovery Dtoid and some boards said it was aweful

So what should I spend my money on then  :-\?
