You dream every single night, your dream recall is really bad though.
Build it back up by keeping a dream journal. Eventually it'll be strong enough for you to be able to lucid dream efficiently.

TBH even when I first open my eyes 90% of the time I remember nothing.  It's just like I lose 6-8 hours a day.

Re: Dreams - ScottyGrayskull - 08-19-2008

Back when I used to play MUDs religiously (as in at least 3 hours EVERY day, which was quite tame compared to many actually) some people talked about dreams, and dreaming in text. I didn't believe it until I actually did. It was so weird... massive walls of text accompanied everything I did and everywhere I went. Nothing had a physical form, it was just text describing what it would look like.

Oh man that must be awesome, that is the kind of thing that made me tempted to try LSD (I never have), to get alternate views of reality like that.

Re: Dreams - Luinbariel - 08-19-2008

If you have bad dream recall, try waking yourself up at a strange time of the day/night; set your alarm for some time you don't usually get up, preferably BEFORE your usual wake-up time, and see if you recall any dreams immediately after this point. Write down whatever you remember.

The idea is that your sleep cycle may have brought you away from a dreaming state by the time that you normally wake up and hence you remember nothing; but if you interrupt yourself at another place during the sleep cycle you may interrupt yourself during a dream, in a different cycle than normal.

Re: Dreams - cannedpeahes - 08-19-2008

Okay, some background information: my dad was an artist when he was young, and these days he's interested in like metaphysical shit; our house was under construction for a while back about a year ago, and we were losing heat so he hung up a sheet of thermal paper and cut a slit in it for us to walk through, so it completely looked like a vag. Oh, and we had just got a cat.

So I wake up in my dream, in my completely normal IRL house, and for some reason what it seems natural to do is to hang myself up on this big hanger that's dangling from the ceiling. I do, and the hanger starts to move along a track, taking me through my morning routine of shower, teeth, shave, etc. Then it takes me downstairs (don't ask me how, my ceiling remains parallel to the floor) and my dad is in my living room carving a statue of a naked Stephen Hawking out of Gouda cheese. Then I walk through the "pussy door", as we called it, which in my dream was actually, like, a real pussy. And I go into the world outside, which is populated by bipedal cats.

Go fucking figure.

Fucking lame Dave... Cut it out. -SG

Re: Dreams - Geoff - 08-20-2008

I had a dream, where I was studying with my friends, but then every thing became like zero-g.  I can't remember the rest though  Sad

Re: Dreams - K2 - 08-20-2008

I definitely played too much TF2 yesterday, because my dream last night started out with me being a Heavy trying to get used to using Natascha. I spent a little while walking around trying to kill scouts and snipers, but like most dreams I remember (I don't remember my dreams very often), it eventually devolved into crazy shit that made no sense and of which I can't recall any specifics.

Re: Dreams - A. Crow - 08-20-2008

Last night I had a dream whose main themes included Star Wars (watching it), an asian girl, and World War 2 air combat.  I also tore someone apart like a Lego minifig and threw the pieces off a cliff overlooking the sea.  Oh yeah, and at one point I was in the water fighting off dolphins trained in anti-diver operations.  This is fairly typical.

Re: Dreams - Dave - 08-21-2008

Re: Dreams - Geoff - 08-21-2008

Did some lucid dreaming last night, pretty fun.  Then, I like woke up in my dream.  Very strange but awesome.

Re: Dreams - ToiletDuck - 08-23-2008

oh my god i had a zombie dream last night, so rad!

i don't remember all the details, but these are the things that stood out
  • i was a Vegan Zombie, don't ask why, but it'd probably be something to do with point #2.
  • i was helping my friends fight off the real zombies in a portion of a large mall (of course)
  • i remember a hot zombie girl and she was killed, but i resurrected her with a drug of some sort (for some reason i recall them being steroids, lol)
  • i made her promise not to harm my friends and we lived happily ever after, we probably banged.

bah, that's all i remember, but i do know it was the best dream i've had in a long time.

Awesome dream indeed. Also I'll bet the drug was your penis, wasn't it?
