Not sure but afaik Chile wasn't a state back then (I could be wrong but I can't be bothered to look it up) but the territory could be still there and the original inhabitants could be playable.

We signed our independence on 1810, and before that we had a huge war against Spain for out independence. And after that, Peruvians and Bolivians joined forces to attack us. We raped them, but it was an awesome war

Italians better be in this.  Granted we didn't really colonize the new world but all our sailors got everyone else there

Yeah, you play as Amerigo Vespucci and Giovanni Caboto while I play as the whole French nation, alright?

Also, you're Italian? And I didn't know?!

In case that's not sarcasm...I am half Italian.  But since my fathers side is mutt I cling more towards my ilalian heritage.

And just because the Italians didn't colonize the world I. Real life doesn't mean they couldn't in the game.

I'm pretty sure America is already settled by this games time period.

Re: Total War - Tragic Hero - 12-30-2008

Well that's lame.  I was hoping it was just Europe all having a chance to colonize the new world and it works from there

Yeah, it would be awesome, I'd shotgun Italy too if I could. Sadly, the Total War series doesn't make up a whole new history. It starts from one moment in history, and you play from there... Since Italy didn't really care that much about America, because they had the main economic cities, they didn't colonize...

I guess a game that would be the most like what you said would on from the Civilization series.

Re: Total War - Tragic Hero - 12-30-2008

True but you would think the game would want you to play as more factions than then Americans, British, French, Spanish, Portuguese(spelling?), and the Dutch according to Ain.

I'm pretty sure Medieval 2: Total War had a big colonizing the Americas component.  The new one just takes place later in time.

Also according to Wikipedia:
Quote:Empire: Total War will feature approximately fifty 18th century factions, such as Great Britain, Prussia, Sweden, and the Ottoman Empire with all the major powers at the time being playable. The emergence of key nations during the era, such as Revolutionary France and the United States, and the fall of native states to the larger empires will be reflected in the game. Players will be able to access at least ten factions at the start of the game, and unlock others later in the game.
