I fail to see any how any of those complaints make sense we we have A:HL setup and d/l'ed already (or should) and Dystopia is an official mod so you don't have to do anything other than click a button in Steam to set it up.

But whatever, I just want to play A:HL and actually have some control over the maps this time.

This. We have A:HL night as scheduled, then an unofficial "Dudes let's pub crash Dystopia if you feel like it or whatever" afterwards.

I can't imagine how Goldeneye Source would be at all fun, unless we plug in N64 controllers and try to aim with c-buttons and R-targeting.

That kinda proves my point, looks like shit and nothing like Goldeneye.[/quote]

what the f more do you want from them? they've covered almost everything from the original

Re: Mod Nights - 2/12 - AHL Part 2(?) - CaffeinePowered - 02-09-2009

I liked GE:Source beta 1

My two biggest complaints were the lag, and that most maps aren't built for the number of people you can do in a source game, remember, goldeneye was only 4 players and thats what all the maps were designed around

I want them to remove mouselook and force WSAD to walk-turn instead of walk-strafe.  Right and left click on your mouse are left strafe and right strafe, and a third mouse button switches you to standing aiming mode.  You cannot turn in static aiming mode, only move the reticule within your screen space.  Spacebar is fire.  Q and E and/or mouse 4/5 if you have them are weapon switching and remote mine detonating.

Goldeneye is a really mediocre game if you give it modern controls.  The only way I would find it fun, is it if controlled like the absurd N64 control scheme I mastered back then.

That sounds absolutely horrible. Pretty accurate to how it controlled on N64, but then again, the controls on that were horrible also.

I'm going to try to be there tonight

just send me an invite when it happens, whether it says I'm busy or not.

Re: Mod Nights - 2/12 - AHL Part 2(?) - Wedge - 02-13-2009

That was pretty awesome until everyone left and I was stuck with a bunch of regulars whoring the 50-cal like a railgun.  I'd say ban it from use if we played again, but I'm sure we'll be going to Dystopia or something next week anyways.

Re: Mod Nights - 2/12 - AHL Part 2(?) - Surf314 - 02-13-2009

It was fun but complicated as shit.

If you think AHL is complicated, you will hate Dystopia, personally I think AHL is pretty easy to get in to, the only snag is that a bunch of critical keys (change loadout, "stunt", and bandage) are not bound to something by default.

Once you bind those keys its fairly simple to get into it. There's no health pickups at all, extra ammo is from corpses only, and if you want to drop your special item or weapon you have to bind those keys as well.

I've played both and I'd have to say that AHL is harder to learn.  Dystopia is a bit more complicated but at least it has an easily understandable equipment menu that is explained properly.

Re: Mod Nights - 2/12 - AHL Part 2(?) - Mission Difficult - 02-13-2009

So learning to bind a key to bring up a menu is hard now? Sweet.

Re: Mod Nights - 2/12 - AHL Part 2(?) - Wedge - 02-13-2009

Yeah I mean it's not like Dystopia has complex objective based levels with an entire sub-game world within a game world or anything.

As one of the regulars you guys managed to drag back here, I'd agree with the "ban the thing" sentiment anywhere Tongue

Edit: My text got deleted?

Anyways I didn't know the weapons so I went random.  It was the stunts that confused me.
