I was going to try a out a new MMO that is still in beta called Runes of Magic this weekend. It looks pretty average, but I guess I'll still give it a shot. If anyone is interested in meeting up in game or anything let me know.

Tried it, nothing special.

That's what I like about Guild Wars. You don't really have to grind, max level's 20 and it doesn't take long to get there at all just doing some of the quests and the story missions.

I am definitely interested in GW and of course PS.  But GW is less of a financial commitment since it's $20 now for the base.

You should also consider which of the campaigns to get. Prophecies is the first of the GW games and has a bit more focus on the main storyline, and I believe it takes the longest to level in that one.It also has a more traditional fantasy type theme.  Factions is the second GW campaign and has a more asian theme and has a different pvp system or something. I dunno about nightfall or eye of the north cuz I don't have those Tongue.  Also all the campaigns have the base professions of warrior, ranger, monk, necromancer, elementalist, mesmer. However only factions has the assasin and ritualist, and only nightfall has the dervish and the paragon.

i thought the later ones were just add-ons

eye of the north is an add-on to prophecies, nightfall and factions you can play on their own I think

Correct, people who bought Prophecies and then buy Factions can eventually visit the other game's land by ship with their Prophecies character, and i'm assuming push all the way through to the starting area of Factions if they wanted to.

k ill do it propperly.

Get all the campaigns since they are hellacheap
BUT

Prophecies:
the first one out, starts off in standard european fantasy world, shit happend and you go post apocolyptic, you go through some icy mountain peaks with ome drawves, you then go to a rainforst jungle which is filled with zombies and gay poison, then you come out at a desert, then you go to the icy south mountains and then you go to a volcano to finish the campaign.
the campaign focuses on storytelling and missions (not quests they are shit.) i reccomend this campaign to the new people, it has a nice tutorial island that sets you up witht he game, and you will love the story and single player, downside is that you loose a lot of the games pvp due to no AB and no hero battles, you can till do guild vs guild and the other arenas. you get necro elementalist mesmer monk warrior and ranger with prophecies.  this has the best story of them all and really immerses you with the game until you get all the 6 year olds asking how do i get cape, and then trying to make a guild, giving it a shit name, then putting skulls on your cape.

Factions:
This was the next one out and it is my favourite, the campaign story is allright, there is a neat bit about two feuding factions which i love, it allows access to two more classes (assassin and ritualist). it is the shortest campaign and will get you to max level really fast, i can get a char to 20 in less then a day in factions. Factions also contains the best pvp, alliance battles, where you pick one of the feuding factions and fight the other faction for them, it it like a controll point system and it works really well as an introduction to pvp. this is the next campaign to get in my opinion.

Nightfall:
This is my least fav campaign, it introduced heroes which are basicaly all people use in PvE anymore, they replace other people since you can change there skills and equipment, they usualy do a better job at healing in pve than players and it kinda annoys me that people will play an mmo and then rely on npcs to do missions, it does let you get them done easier though. nightfall gives you two more classes the paragon and the dervish, the paragon is my favourate class, its the leadership class and uses shouts to buff and unbuff players, anyway this campaign has a decent story but takes forever to get into it, its basicaly all in a desert

EOTN

just a bridge between gw1 and 2, pretty good content

What about Ragnarok Online? It's simple, doesn't requires a big CPU and grinding isn't a big problem

heroes are nifty just if you don't want to deal with fucktards in GW (which there are a lot of, actually, especially in the beginning)

eotn has heroes too, and one of them is part of the story and in the cinematics he's talks and his voice actor is brain from pinky and the brain which makes him automatic win
