It wasn't much of a sex scene. Two people making out for a total of twelve seconds in their underwear. There was no penetration. It also managed to drop a plot point that was used later in the movie.

I dunno what this "penetration" shit is that you're talking about, but it sure looked like sex to me. I mean, seriously, if "french" kissing isn't sex, than what is?

Re: Star Trek - HeK - 05-11-2009

While not attempting a pun, I believe this is where Spock would be very welcome.

Re: Star Trek - Dave - 05-12-2009

enjoyed this film.

Re: Star Trek - HuckBerryGee - 05-12-2009

ok, movie was great, but now, I need information from the star trek fanbase around here.
Is the star Trek universe based on the main dimension pictured in the movie or Spock Prime's, in which James' Kirk father has not been killed by Nero? In other words, did they Change the story in the movie as it is known in the Star Trek universe?

Also, I think i like ST better than SW now for some reason.

This is a different timestream from the one Spock Prime came from, which actually allows them to reimagine both the characters and the timeline in the universe featured in the film. A subtle piece of writing trickery that opens them up for re-making the show, actually.

Also, the green girl sex scene is an in-joke about Kirk always getting with a member of any alien species they meet - even if they're green Tongue

Star Trek Women Gettin' it ON with Captain Kirk

Re: Star Trek - fyre - 05-12-2009

Just saw it. It was sweet. I was afraid all the lens flare would be distracting but it wasn't. Snow monster was a bit silly. I thought the alternate timeline thing was a pretty clever way to leave the original series intact but still have the freedom to do their own thing. I give this the coveted Fyre Seal Of Approval.

Also...miniskirts!!! ;D ;D ;D

Re: Star Trek - sarcasticsteve - 05-12-2009

You know people may debate the best cameos, but I think Shatner's momentary appearance was the most pleasing...

uhum, wrong.  The green girl is an homage to the unaired pilot "the cage" in which they tempt Captain Pike with an Orion slave girl

yeah, that's what i thought.  I am a loser.

Orion Slave Girl

Re: Star Trek - A. Crow - 05-13-2009

I saw it Tuesday, in a theater that had $3 24 oz bud lights.  Green chick = Win.  And you are both right.  The girl i was with totally didn't get the reference, or why I snorted beer out my nose when I saw it.

as to New Kirk.  He's a giant douchebag.  However, I think this is probably the most consistent with canon aspect of the character, as I'm sure everyone thought shatner was a giant douchebag too.  Kirk ?Prime? (is that what we're calling him?) broke rules, but he (mostly) broke rules after he was already a starfleet captain.  Cadet Kirk did so in a most profuse and asinine manner before attaining such a station and would have probably never earned his commission.  No, it's cool, we'll direct commission him to O-6, it'll be sweet.  And the Kobayashi Maru test, surely something classier than "LOLZ CHECK TEH SHIELDS NOW! ZOMG OWNED!" was in order for this.

I thought the guy playing Bones did really friggin well.  And simon pegg too.

I usually don't like prequels and reboots anyways.
