Re: Books motherfuckers, do you read them? - at0m - 07-12-2011 I bought a big set for my kindle, I think its 4 books. Haven't started yet though. It's an awesome place to hang out in and you'll find a good deal once in a while, but back in the nineties they were actually cheap with 50 cent paperbacks. Also I didn't know you were in Pooooortland ho
Powells still sells a fuck ton of used books for a mere pence. they're just sitting in the racks for you to find. Re: Books motherfuckers, do you read them? - Eschatos - 07-13-2011 Torrented A Dance With Dragons. I feel somewhat ridiculous.
Much more time than the last book. About 2/3s of the way through it catches up and starts covering all the characters again. In my opinion it was much better than A Feast For Crows. So much more shit actually happens, of which I will reveal nothing. Re: Books motherfuckers, do you read them? - Squishy3 - 07-25-2011 A Canticle for Leibowitz is really good. Re: Books motherfuckers, do you read them? - rumsfald - 07-25-2011 ![]() ^good read. Next up: ![]() Re: Books motherfuckers, do you read them? - Squishy3 - 07-26-2011 Finished the first two books in the Kingkiller trilogy, The Name of the Wind and The Wise Man's Fear. Fucking excellent. It's unique in that it doesn't start off at the "beginning" of the story. The person is already finished with his tale, and is a legend, and owns an inn where people tell stories about him fairly often. It's kind of similar to the Dresden Files, in a way. And now to start the 13th book of that. Re: Books motherfuckers, do you read them? - at0m - 07-26-2011 Just finished the first Game of Thrones novel. I'm ~80-90% through it. I've really enjoyed it, despite it being much slower than book 3 and missing some cool characters. I also downloaded a bunch of free books for my kindle and am reading Uncle Tom's Cabin right now (it's okay so far I guess). Lastly, I spent $2 on the complete Mark Twain collection. Anybody have any recommendations on what to read from him? There's like 300 works included so I'm kind of just looking to pick a few particularly good/funny/interesting reads out of it. Re: Books motherfuckers, do you read them? - Sogo - 07-30-2011 This book Is pretty much a handbook to Internet-based Sociopathy, I definitely recommend giving it a read. http://www.27bslash6.com/tiiap.html ![]() Re: Books motherfuckers, do you read them? - Maxon - 08-04-2011 Just started Feast for Crows myself. Storm of Swords was pretty intense I thought. Not surprised the fourth would be abit slower after everything that happened with the last one. Not sure when I'll get Dance with Dragons afterwards, unless I can get the hardcover REALLY cheap. I hate that it takes so long for a book to go paperback. |
