I've always had problems with ear wax build up and despite impacting my hearing I hadn't gotten them flushed for years. Soooo much earwax came out and my eardrum is actually visible now. The world's volume just got tripled; closing a car door was like a gunshot. I can hear my wallet lightly rustling in my pockets. The biggest shock was my own voice.

Now that you have (regained?) sensitive hearing, invest in a pair of Audio Technica M50s.

Smoke weed and listen to your favorite music at a high bitrate (FLAC obviously).

And you can thank me later.

I think banana plugs have more contact area, but I'll take a locking connector with slightly less any day.

I'm sure they sound good. I've had a pair of ATH-M40s for years now. It's a misnomer to call them studio headphones when almost no studio gear actually uses a 3.5mm jack. One exception is Doepfer, but that's a form factor issue.

They do advertise them as studio, but that doesn't matter to me since these are for my music/general audio anyhow. However, yes, deceptive advertisement strats like that are dumb.
