I got the 360 version in the mail today and it's a damn great title.  Other than some occasional netcode issues while playing online that I experienced while Brinking it up with a bunch of folks from the Penny Arcade Forums (my usual haunt) I'm loving the way matches can ebb and flow, and the sheer amount of freedom you have to switch tactics and reorganize your team on the fly.  Brink is the kind of deeper team-based game I've been waiting for since TF2.

Seriously, ignore the critics.  Once Splash Damage gets the kinks worked out on all fronts Brink should be an outstanding game.

I'm passing on buying it unless it's super cheap on sale.  Been playing the 360 version that I rented and while it seems like basically a more customized version of Team Fortress 2, all of the solo stuff is pretty lame and if the PC version has as many problems as the 360 version, it's not worth getting for at least a few weeks.

If anybody's still interested, Splash Damage will be releasing the first of hopefully many new map packs for free (http://www.splashdamage.com/content/brink-updates-live-free-dlc-coming?s=604eeb8fd304ebcae89755f196e13747) as a way of saying "Thanks for putting up with our mistakes".  They've already started patching and cleaning up the PC version, with console updates doing the same on the way.  Many of the folks who have stuck with it are having a blast, myself included; it's all about adopting the "Brink mindset" of being fluid, adaptable, and able of using your current body type's abilities as well as the environment to your advantage.

Stay on the fence right now if you must, but don't sell Brink short just yet.  Give it a little more time to get refined, wait until it's a bit cheaper, and hopefully by then more people will willing to join in the fun.

This game was disappointing, some good ideas but not enough to gain traction I don't think. It's just a poor substitute for TF2.

So since this free weekend, have any new players formed any opinions of it yet? I've just been playing campaign which has abysmally bad AI.

i have this previously formed opinion from owning/playing it: the only game this year that has it beat in the bad multiplayer department is crysis 2 immediately after launch

My computer can run Crysis 2, but it can't run Brink.  

You can't explain that.
