Re: Steam Summer 2014 Sale - Evil Cheese - 06-28-2014

What do the fighting game gurus think of Injustice? Normally I only buy fighting games on consoles due to them being more local multiplayer friendly. I realize you can plug two controllers into a computer and have at it, but my PC isn't really setup for that and is far less portable than my PS3.

I've been told the new wolfenstein game was way better than expected. (Better than the last iteration)

Wolfenstein is good.

Re: Steam Summer 2014 Sale - Luca Shoal - 06-29-2014

Bought about $40-50 of stuff. Including Walking Dead Season 2 & re-buying the Homestar Runner adventure (I got it from Telltale directly before. But yay for keeping gathered in Steam.)

First episode of WD. Dog, why ;-;

Re: Steam Summer 2014 Sale - Eightball - 06-29-2014

Final day. Here are my opinions, and/or what I grabbed:
  • I'm very interested in Walking Dead 2, but I will wait until all the episodes are done so I can binge-play it.
  • Picked up Metro: Last Light. If you haven't played Metro 2033, it is -80% off, or $2.99! It's just not advertised though.
  • XCOM is a great choice all-around, but note that if you're not careful you can end up buying the game for more than the bundle that also includes The Bureau.
  • Haven't played Witcher 2 yet (still sitting in my library) but most people I've talked do regard it highly, at least worth $4.
  • Skyrim is worth $5 just for the sheer amount of content that even the base game has.
  • Stanley Parable is... different. Watch a youtube video to decide if it's something you're interested in. I liked it.
  • Games that I've played that are IMO worth their costs: Terraria, Dishonored, Bioshock Infinite, Dragon Age.
  • Still a lot of games that are interesting but beyond my (steam sale) cost standards. Stick of Truth, KSP, wouldn't mind trying a dynasty warriors. Oh well, next sale.
  • CSGO is still only -50% off. It's not going to get any lower, probably to discourage hackers from buying (as many) spare accounts. If you want to join us, now is your best opportunity to get it.

It may drop lower, around winter holiday sale, but ultimately now is still a good time to get in.

It looks awesome, but I'm gonna wait til Christmas for a sub-30 price. Hopefully $15ish. Also upset Castlevania LoS isn't sub-20.

I got:
Dead Island: Riptide (it's meh)
DmC (It's really good)
Payday 2 DLC for super cheap

I'm pondering if there is anything else worth getting right now.

Re: Steam Summer 2014 Sale - Evil Cheese - 06-30-2014

I didn't buy anything on Steam the last day, but I did pick up the Deponia pack from GOG for ~$12. The Deponia series is a set of adventure games with heavy emphasis on comedy a la the Lucas Arts adventure games.

Total Damage:
* Payday 2
* Nidhogg
* Dark Souls
* Spacebase DF-9
* Banner Saga
* The Wolf Among Us
* System Shock 2
* Deponia Pack

All in all I payed about the price of a new game for 8 (technically 10 if you count all the Deponia games). Blah blah consumerism, devaluing games etc etc, but considering the amount of time you can sink into each of those games I'd say it's a pretty good deal.

Re: Steam Summer 2014 Sale - Surf314 - 06-30-2014

I bought Transistor and Wolfenstein and they are both fantastic.  I bought BBT and Civ 5 complete on recommendations but I haven't had much time with them yet.

Re: Steam Summer 2014 Sale - Didzo - 06-30-2014

My only purchase has been CS:GO. I'll probably need some pointers and practice before being not-crap.

Just play classic casual for a bit. Ultimately CS: Go plays pretty much like CS: Source, only prettier.

Smaller hitboxes, otherwise it's the same.

The hitboxes are inside the body's limbs and head instead of surrounding it.

More or less entertaining than Rollercoaster Tycoon?

Re: Steam Summer 2014 Sale - Greatbacon - 07-08-2014

I would say less.  It's mostly just checking boxes and moving sliders.  Plus no possibility for maiming little digital dudes.
