Re: X-COM: UFO Defense - Versus - 04-27-2009 From the journal of Versus: April 1st, 1999: Plasma Rifle research completed today; obviously its clip will be researched next. A small UFO was detected off of the west coast of South America, heading east. Tragic Hero is dispatched in INTERCEPTOR-1, but tracking was lost once again. April 2nd, 1999: Another small UFO detected, but the same thing happened. HeK, stop being lazy and losing track of these UFOs! April 5th, 1999: Plasma Rifle clip research completed; Floater corpse research started and finished in like 12 hours. April 6th, 1999: Another large UFO detected near Chicago; Socks and Tragic Hero dispatched once again; tracking lost. Again. April 8th, 1999: 30 scientists hired, bringing the total to 100. Sectoid engineer interrogation finished today, revealing details about the Medium Scout. Small Launcher research began. April 11th, 1999: 30 scientists arrived, assisting with Small Launcher research. April 14th, 1999: Small Launchers done, Stun Bomb begun. April 16th, 1999: Stun Bomb researched; Alien Origins research starts. April 17th, 1999: Yet another small UFO detected, etc., etc. Tragic Hero gets close, but the UFO evades him. April 19th, 1999: Alien Origins research finishes; UFO Navigation research begins. It is clear that we are fighting a losing battle on earth. The alien hordes are overwhelming in number. The best we can do is slow down their progress. The only hope for humanity is to tackle the aliens at their source. Our research seems to indicate a nearby base of operations within our solar system. Aliens indicate this place to be the centre of an ancient civilisation that pre-dates Human history. We must locate this place as soon as possible. However we need to capture and interrogate an alien leader to gain more detailed information. The larger UFOs probably contain at least one Alien leader. April 25th, 1999: UFO Navigation research completed; UFO Construction research begins. April 27th, 1999: Luinbariel will take all 12 soldiers to the alien base in the Sahara today, hopefully getting there during daytime. April 28th, 1999: Luinbariel arrives in SKYRANGER-1 for the first alien base assault by X-COM. MISSION: SAHARA ALIEN BASE ASSAULT X-COM operatives have gained entrance to an alien base. The control centre must be destroyed to render the base inoperative. The mission will terminate when all enemies are eliminated, or when your squad has returned to the green exit area. Turn 1: Most of the team starts on the second floor, but Squishy and J-Master start on the bottom floor. Squishy walks around some before spotting two Sectoids down a hall. Squishy downs one with his plasma rifle, then gets back to cover. J-Master also walks around a bit and sees a third Sectoid, but decides to take cover instead. George descends to the first floor and looks around a bit, but doesn't see anything. The rest of the team descends uneventfully. Aliens' turn: a Sectoid takes a pot shot at Negate from the darkness, but misses. Another Sectoid fires a purple thing that caused a big explosion and looked bad, but didn't do anything. Turn 2: copduck fires a burst at the Sectoid that fired the purple thing, killing it. MissionD advances down a corridor, spotting the Sectoid that Squishy didn't kill in turn 1. Squishy begins heading towards MissionD, but he spots a Cyberdisk in midair. Hoping that the plasma rifle packs a lot more punch than the old rifles, Squishy fires a burst and hits it twice, but doesn't kill it. Vlambo comes up with Squishy and kills the Cyberdisk with a snap shot. ainmosni goes into some small chamber full of odd fauna. Dave spots a Sectoid as he advances down another sector of the alien base with Negate and George; he kills it with a Heavy Plasma burst. Aliens' turn: two Sectoids shoot at MissionD, but miss. A Sectoid practically runs into copduck, but doesn't have time to shoot. Turn 3: ainmosni comes out of the plant-filled room and spots one of the Sectoids that shot at MissionD; he kills it with a nice burst. MissionD moves west in a corridor, spotting yet another Sectoid. He hits it once, but misses the second time. Trace moves up and finishes it off with some Heavy Plasma. copduck makes quick work of the Sectoid that nearly ran into him and moves up some, but is hit by a Sectoid's plasma gun. Fortunately, the Power Armor saves him, and copduck has enough time to get behind a wall. Negate and Dave move up; Negate is shot at by an unseen enemy, but dodges it. George moves down a corridor by himself. Aliens' turn: several Sectoids appear near the group of Trace, MissionD, ainmosni, Spore, Vlambo, Squishy, and Surf; Squishy takes a hit from the side, but is still up. Turn 4: Squishy retreats, while Spore takes out a Sectoid with an HE round. Vlambo comes up next to Spore and takes down another Sectoid with a plasma rifle burst. ainmosni advances, but spots a Sectoid too late to do anything about it except move out of its view. George keeps exploring. Trace moves up and kills the Sectoid ainmosni spotted with a burst, followed closely by MissionD. Negate peeks back into the area he was shot at from and sees a Sectoid standing in the middle. Negate takes very careful aim with his rocket launcher and blows the Sectoid into pieces. Dave moves on the side, but doesn't see anything. Aliens' turn: holy fuck, a Sectoid pops out like right next to copduck and hits him at least 5 times, yet copduck hasn't been hurt at all. Turn 5: copduck is quite upset with that Sectoid for trying to kill him, so he easily annihilates the Sectoid with a quick shot at point blank range. Trace and MissionD start heading toward a very large elevator spotted by copduck; the others near them also start heading that way. Surf and Squishy head for a small elevator in the area where the Sectoids in the base were first spotted. Dave and George keep exploring. Negate finds a plasma rifle, which will be more practical than his rocket launcher if he gets in trouble again. Aliens' turn: copduck is mind controlled, fuck. Turn 6: MissionD starts heading towards where copduck was...until he sees copduck standing there, with IFF indicating an enemy. MissionD goes back behind cover, hoping that the mind control will wear off; J-Master also hides, along with several other members while converging on the large elevator. George, Dave, and Negate finish sweeping the bottom floor and start heading toward the large elevator. Aliens' turn: copduck is still under alien control. Turn 7: J-Master fires a Stun Bomb he had picked up from an alien at copduck, which does nothing; copduck returns fire, hitting J-Master, but he's still alive. If copduck doesn't return after this turn, he's going to have to be put down. Everyone is either waiting or heading for the large elevator. Aliens' turn: copduck breaks free of mind control, but he has panicked; anyway, it looks like copduck won't have to die at X-COM's hands. Turn 8: Everyone is heading for the large elevator. Aliens' turn: copduck is mind controlled again; looks like he will have to die after all. Turn 9: Trace, who was standing right next to copduck when he was mind controlled again, pops him with a Heavy Plasma burst, killing him on the third hit. Everyone is still heading for the large elevator. Aliens' turn: Vlambo panicks. Turn 10: MissionD ascends the elevator, immediately spotting a Sectoid at close range. He hits it with an aimed shot, then turns around to find another Sectoid watching him. Trace follows MissionD and takes out the second Sectoid, ending the mission. Aftermath: 14 aliens were killed. copduck died because he had to be mind controlled, but the overall mission rating was well over 900, âexcellent!â No one was promoted (wtf) April 28th, 1999: Before Luin had even returned to base, we got confirmation that aliens were terrorizing Brasilia. Luin returned to base, and J-Master and Squishy were hospitalized due to their wounds. SKYRANGER-1 was resupplied, and George was temporarily issued Squishy's Power Armor. Before SKYRANGER-1 finished refueling, though, the terror site disappeared. Monthly report: Monthly rating: -288 (OK) Funding change: -47000 Re: X-COM: UFO Defense - Dave - 04-27-2009 that guy saved my life, guess Dave is in chrge now, saddle up space police, its time to kill some alien scum. Re: X-COM: UFO Defense - Benito Mussolini - 04-27-2009 I'm not in your story?! > Re: X-COM: UFO Defense - Eschatos - 04-28-2009 (04-27-2009, 07:30 PM)Benito Mussolini link Wrote: I'm not in your story?! > I'll see what I can do. Mission: Take over landed enemy supply ship and neutralize all hostiles. Turn 1: The team exits the Skyranger. Benito 1-2 spies the alien ship, but no immediate hostiles. His squad moves to attack the ship from the right, while Benito 2-1's squad moves to attack from the left. Heavy Benito exits and sees a sectoid standing 7 squares away. One explosive shot blows it away. Rocket Benito and Auto Benito take cover under the shuttle and Officer Benito moves to support Squad 1. During the aliens turn a single sectoid is seen emerging from the ship. Turn 2: Benito 1-2 rushes the sectoid and kills it with one shot. The rest of squad 1 follows, with Officer Benito providing covering fire. Benito 2-1 advances along the left side and sees another sectoid. He shoots and misses, then takes cover. Benito 2-2 and 2-3 follow but don't have enough AP to take shots. Auto Benito and Heavy Benito shoot from cover, but both miss. Everyone takes cover in preparation for the aliens attack. The alien shoots and destroys the tree Benito 2-3 was hiding behind, and then shoots her to death. She will be missed. Many door opening and closing sounds are heard in the background. Turn 3: Auto Benito fires two bursts at the sectoid and misses with all six explosive shots. Benito 2-1 takes a carefully aimed shot and kills it. The rest of Squad 2 and the heavy weapons carefully advance. Benito 1-1 advances to the door of the ship. One sectoid shoots at him from the far end. Benito 1-1 fires back and kills it. She takes cover and the rest of Squad 1 advances. The only hint of aliens during their turn is the sound of more doors. Turn 4: Both squads advance around their sides of the ship. Squad 1 and Officer Benito stack up around the door. The usual alien sounds happen. Turn 5: Squad 1 rushes into the supply ship. Officer Benito sees and kills one sectoid. Everyone else takes cover. Squad 2 reaches the second door to the ship. They would be at a disadvantage if they rushed in with heavy weapons, so they decide to camp the exit until Squad 1 is done. During the alien turn a sectoid fires a rocket at Squad 1, knocking Benito 1-1 and Benito 1-3 unconscious. Benito 1-2 and Officer Benito freak the fuck out and go berserk. Shots are fired at random walls. Turn 6: Heavy Benito goes to assist Squad 1. The rest of Squad 2 stacks up around the second door. The sectoid fires another rocket and misses. Benito 1-2 and Officer Benito are both mind controlled. Turn 7: Squad 2 advances into the ship and halts, ready to kill any aliens who come down the gravlift. Heavy Benito retreats so that Benito 1-2 and Officer Benito don't kill him. Their mind control ends, a sectoid shoots a rocket at Benito 1-2 and misses, Benito 1-2 shoots back and kills it. Then he is mind controlled again. One sectoid descends down the gravlift and is turned into red paste. Officer Benito is found to be outside the ship, and stays there to wait for Benito 1-2 to become un-mind controlled. Turn 8: Benito 2-1 advances up the gravlift and kills one sectoid at the top. He then retreats back down to wait. Benito 2-2 becomes panicked during the aliens turn. Turn 9: Benito 2-1 repeats what he did last turn exactly. Officer Benito tiptoes into the ship to see where Benito 1-2 is. He is waiting for her, so she retreats. Rocket Benito swaps her launcher for a pistol. During the aliens turn Officer Benito panics. Turn 10: Benito 2-2 sheepishly picks his weapon back up. All of Squad 2 ascends the gravlift but sees no aliens. During the aliens turn Officer Benito is mind controlled and kills Heavy Benito. Turn 11: Benito 2-1 checks the engine room but sees no aliens. The rest of Squad 2 begins to explore but finds no one. During the aliens turn Rocket Benito is mind controlled and Benito 2-2 panics. Rocket Benito fires a rocket at Benito 2-1 but misses. Benito 1-2 becomes un-mind controlled and panics. Officer Benito runs in to the ship to try and revive Benito 1-1 and 1-3. Benito 2-1 rushes past Rocket Benito and runs toward the grav lift to the 3rd floor. Auto Benito is ahead of him, and manages to kill a sectoid on the way. During the alien turn Rocket Benito fires a rocket at Benito 2-2 and kills him. Benito 1-2 panics again. Turn 12: Officer Benito decides to kill the alien fucker who keeps mind controlling her. She advances. Benito 2-1 and Auto Benito advance to the 3rd floor, finding no aliens yet. During the alien turn Rocket Benito and Officer Benito panic. Benito 1-3 wakes up. Turn 13: Benito 2-1 rushes into the control center of the space ship and kills the only alien there. Auto Benito checks the rest of the floor and finds no one. The ship should be clear except for the bottom floor. Benito 1-2 and 1-3 begin searching for the last sectoid. The battle ends. No one knows what happened to the last sectoid. Final score: 373 Rating: Good.
