Re: Star Trek - sarcasticsteve - 05-13-2009

The reason why young Kirk was so much of a douche would have been more apparent if they'd fleshed out his childhood a bit more.  Apparently there were originally plans for his Uncle Frank (guy who owned the car Kirk totaled) to be the 'father figure' who was a bit abusive and a bit of a drinker.

Re: Star Trek - fyre - 05-14-2009

The thing that I only realized a while after I watched it is that New Kirk is obviously going to be quite different since in this timeline he grew up without his father.

Probably everyone knew this but me, but Youtube + CBS is hosting what looks like the whole original series for commercial-free viewing.

Case in point: The Doomsday Machine

There are commercials, thats what the little yellow lines on the bottom stand for.

However, this is pretty badass.

The new kirk is the only one I didn't like better than the old.

(scratches head)  Funny, they weren't doing that -- oh, wow.  Firefox AdBlock Plus apparently counters them somehow, I think.

I, too, thought that I would only be able to see Sylar but actually once I got past the first few minutes of it I was really digging him as Spock. I also didn't hate Kirk which is a first, I though he was really well played, as were so many of the other characters.

I think this movie changed my whole perspective of pretty much everything Star Trek related and I'm glad. I am very glad I saw it.

I very much want to buy this on bluray and I want the soundtrack as well, for me a sign of a good movie.

Re: Star Trek - Kilgannon - 05-17-2009

I saw this the night it came out. I enjoyed it greatly.

Saw it yesterday, I was very appreciative that they had NO SOUND IN SPACE

Re: Star Trek - Eschatos - 05-23-2009

I just saw it.  It was good, but there were a fuckton of things that didn't make sense. Mostly stuff related to the "future star explosion" and the final battle, not to mention the Romulans having tons of guards posted in the cargo bay of their ship but not a single one near the ship that contains the only source of red matter.

They didn't get teleported into the cargo bay, that was the joke.

Re: Star Trek - KarthXLR - 05-24-2009

Saw it again with my sister tonight.

Just as good as it was the last time. Big Grin

Do you mean the movie, or your sister?
