Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Eightball - 08-08-2012 Today was the second consecutive day I've experienced a migraine. They've been happening with startingly increasing frequency: One in October, one in March, one in May, one in June, two in July, now two in the first half of August. This could mean one of several things: 1. I am having greater exposure to my "triggers". I've been keeping a migraine log to see what actions, foods, or settings are common to all of my episodes, but nothing consistent is appearing. It could well be that summer is a bad season for it. 2. The use of my medication is making me susceptible to rebound migraines. I'm almost certain this is a contributing factor, as I have never before had two in a row, much as I have not until recently had access to the injectable form of my medication. How sad that the only thing that gave me decent relief may be making my condition worse. 3. The migraine is symptomatic of some underlying condition, which is getting worse. This is probably the least likely option, but also the scariest. Migraines are usually standalone conditions, but rarely they can be caused by things like...malignancies. I'm highly skeptical this is the right answer, but it pays to be careful. EDIT: If I experience a third migraine over the next 7 days, despite refraining from using my injection today, then I'll be returning home to Madison and checking into a hospital. 4. There is no reason. Migraines are poorly understood, and their pathophysiology is understood only downstream of the trigger. This trend could be temporary, or it could be permanent. If it is the latter, then I either need long-term medical treatment or I will be unable to live the lifestyle I have sought. Maybe I should go into pain medicine... I'm kind of getting at my wit's end with this crap. It's painful, nauseating, and demotivating. The one I had in mid-July nearly got me killed, too: When walking back to my apartment during the midst of my aura, I didn't see a car coming from my right at a 4-way intersection. Luckily, my girlfriend pulled me back, but I simply didn't see it; the whole right half of my vision was gone. Does anyone else have to live with persistent headaches or migraines? Does anyone have recommendations for management or prevention? Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Reevesith - 08-08-2012 @ Azure_Angel Reminds me of this one girl I was crushing on, we'd chat on msn & talk a good while. She told me she wouldn't mind dating me, but after she said that she hops off for a few weeks pops back on saying she got a new bf. Sucked but okay good for her. Then after that any conversation we had she'd stop replying for like hours, I asked if she was busy or done talking to me, she said no, After this went on for a few weeks I took a  look at the chat history & she was just copy pasting my reply back to me just cut up a bit, I know because she had great spelling & I don't :u I fucking called her on it too "copy paste ftw?" she said yup. Just blocked her then & there. :u Funny thing was just before I blocked her she said we don't that much any more & enjoyed our chats, when chats leading up to then were her just copy pasting my replys back :/ Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - Mission Difficult - 08-09-2012 (08-08-2012, 11:31 PM)Eightball link Wrote: Does anyone have recommendations for management or prevention? I usually get one a month. Saw a neurologist a few years ago just to make sure I wasn't dying. The best she could tell me is this: - Get around seven hours of sleep, not much more or less. - Eat three square meals a day. - Take magnesium oxide once daily. 500mg if I recall. - Drink lots of water. - Regular exercise. I've found that submerging myself in a bath of water almost too hot to stand helps if you already have one. Or at least showering in really hot water with the shower head pointed at the back of my neck. Also drinking something really hot gives a tiny bit of relief. As far as triggers go, for me not eating all day and then having a large meal increases the chances of getting one big time. [/quote] I'll keep the hot shower/drinks in mind, I certainly haven't tried that avenue. Seems like based on your neurologist's tips, a more regimented lifestyle is in order. Should be worth it though, thanks for the info! Being taunted only registers about a 2 on my rage-o-meter. Re: The "Fuck my life" thread - TOH - 08-09-2012 Too many major members of my department are out on PTO all at once this week. It's has been absolute hell for me, and it's extremely difficult to get backup support. PTO can't come soon enough... Don't hate on the hemisphere, hate on your environment, then change it. You don't have to completely change the scenery, but there are a lot of things you can do to make your immediate situation more palatable. I'd offer you both a hug but I'm on the wrong coast. |
