Puritans. Also, anti-drunk driving activists. You know what's badass though? An initiative started in 2008 by 150 college presidents, demanding a rethink of the drinking law to lower the age and teach more than abstinence.. Fucking amazing.

Re: The Drunk Thread - rumsfald - 07-08-2010

hey, I can bump this again.

Re: The Drunk Thread - Ianki - 07-09-2010

3 giant (aka triple at the very least) Gin and either tonic or ginger-ales, plus a bottle red win (newman's own... goes directly to charity, so what of it).

It's all for Duck and Rummy.

<3.  You kids are tits, really you are.

Re: The Drunk Thread - HeK - 07-10-2010

Jameson  Irish Whiskey

That is all.

Re: The Drunk Thread - rumsfald - 07-10-2010

Back in the Don Julio. Grammama is a bit of a teetotaler, she made a comment when I destroyed the bottle of JD in her wetbar, so I'm back to keeping a stash in my room. Yay, to be 18 again.

To celebrate, dear Ian, please go to this

http://www.boingboing.net/2010/07/08/trek-in-the-park-cla.html

and take pix of yourself and others in a drunken vulcan revelry.

PS: my count of oregon people to meet is up to 2, and I want to see portland, so I'm building excuses to travel there.

I'm not in oregon any more due to budgetary concerns.

I had a friend who went to that last year and liked it well enough though.

Maine's more betterer for me. I spent some years living in the northeast, and have a pretty friend in Boston.

I also have two tickets to this
http://solidsoundfestival.com/

trying to decide whether to go whether to sell. You should go with me to make sure I don't get too drunk.

hmmm 90 dollars is a alot of money just to see Wilco and the books.

Also, i'm worried about the no smoking/no alchohol policy, but somewhat intrigued by the valet biking.

Your ticket would be gratis, on me. I have two, as when I bought these I had intended to go with my ex, as we saw wilco 5 times in 08-09. You would, however, be required to wear a skirt.

The no-alchoholololol policy is probably just for bring-ins. I'm sure they will be selling beer inside at concession stands. Could always pre-game a bit, and/or bring vodka in water bottles.

The smoking....I wonder how they will enforce that.

Yeah, the bike thing is cool. If I custom ordered a foldy bike, it wouldn't be here in time. I could, however, buy one off the rack if sufficiently tempted to impulsebuy.

I'm not kidding, PM me if you wanna make it happen.

I'm betting they might make you toss your water bottles. They did that at the show we just went to, even if you brought your own fancy bottle.

Reading the FAQ a little closer, that's quite possible

[tt]YES: sealed or empty water bottles, blankets, strollers and chairs. Bag check will be available inside for any disallowed items. NO: glass, pets, alcohol, coolers, picnic baskets or smoking DISCOURAGED: Large bags, backpacks, and umbrellas are discouraged, as they will not be allowed in the galleries.[/tt]

I used to get around the "sealed" water bottle part at NHL games by simple taking a bit of plastic wrap, placing it over the entire bottle, and just heating it up. It creates the plastic cover, and when I was asked about it, which was often, I would say I got it from America. You could simply say it came from Canada
