Full retail does. It doesn't come with OneCare (that you have to pay extra for), but it comes with _some_ support, whereas system builder (OEM) assumes you know wtf you're doing and you can't call M$ for halp if you fuck up. Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - Gump - 04-17-2010 Are you seriously considering the 470? I...you know, I'm just gonna let you have your buyer's regret. Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - Versus - 04-17-2010 should you assume microsoft is going to help you Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - zaneyard - 04-17-2010 regardless of the version i've owned i've never called microsoft for help not like support from them is free anyway learn to google Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - Gump - 04-17-2010 please do not get the 470 oh god Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - KarthXLR - 04-17-2010 it's also $100 (scratch that, $150) cheaper than the 480 and $300 cheaper than the 5970. I don't exactly have a lot of money to blow. Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - KarthXLR - 04-17-2010 Now, if you had shown me the HD 5870, you would've gotten my attention. But yeah, a 4 gb card is going to blow a 1.2 gb card out of the water, no crap. Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - Gump - 04-17-2010 470 isn't any better than a 5850 Both cards are in a bit of a dead heat per performance, either card will be superior depending on what graphics and what game. Difference being the 5850 having a significantly longer case-life, making the short-term possible performance hit negligible compared to the extended lifespan of the 5850. Also, the 5850 can OC stable to a 5870 or so, 10% - 20% faster than the 470. 470 has complaints of it going hotter than 90c under load at stock settings, it's a train wreck :o Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - Didzo - 04-18-2010 (04-17-2010, 06:54 AM)at0m link Wrote: [quote author=Karth del Top Hat link=topic=4209.msg147390#msg147390 date=1271487547]System builder version doesn't come with any form of Microsoft support. Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - KarthXLR - 04-23-2010 ok, THIS is what I'm getting for sure. Maybe. brb changing list for 15th time. Re: Any recommendations for my future gaming rig? - Didzo - 04-23-2010 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102857 Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see a huge difference in much more than price between the 5850 and 5870.
