There's an IOS/Android game called Game Dev Story that's smaller in scope and much more arcade-y, but from what I've seen of Game Dev Tycoon, it's also much more fun.

The problem is it's something much more suited to playing in short bursts on a phone rather than sitting down and playing for an extended period of time on a PC.

[/quote]Even then, it seems devoid of anything remotely neat. You literally win by re-creating all the best titles in history. Post-Apocalyptic RPG? Name it Fallout and you get a 95+. It's literally just sliders, with about as much as immersion as a wet paper bag.
