And yes, NOT starcraft. But yea, something relatively simple (if it exists) would be sweet. I liked Emperor: Battle for Dune [/quote] sins isnt really the most simple of RTS, but it does incorporate some of the ideas from a TBS game into RTS. thus the suggestion as an alternative to Civ Re: Civilization 4, in my FNF ? - Trace - 12-09-2008 Although Sins is a cool game, I think it has the same pacing problem. Sin games take atleast a couple of hours on average and that's just with two people on small maps. Re: Civilization 4, in my FNF ? - Squishy3 - 12-09-2008 I would say dawn of war if mine wasn't completely fucked up :< Re: Civilization 4, in my FNF ? - ribozyme - 12-09-2008 Wait, let me get this straight. Everyone is wanting to play a simpler, faster game and you still poo-poo starcraft for Sins which is not a simpler, faster game. I still don't understand the objections to starcraft. It's a lot cheaper than any of these newer games that have been thrown around and is it really that painful to spend a few bucks on one of the best strategy games of all time. Though if people really want something simple and straightforward and still fun I agree one of the Command and Conquer games would be the way to go. Red Alert, Tiberium Sun, Generals...should be something there that we could agree on. EDIT: Warcraft 3 is another great game but I'm not sure how many have it. If you consider it strategy to memorize a maps layout and plan your whole game out according the predicted terrain.. well that isnt strategy at all. Strategy games that I've had a penchant for were ones that would randomly generate a map each time a new game was started, so you couldn't crutch on the fact that a critical resource is going to be available. Adapt your strategy to what resources you have available, or spend some time Micro managing a scout unit to find it. Age of Empires, Empire earth , Sins of a solar empire. Chronologicaly. Re: Civilization 4, in my FNF ? - Eschatos - 12-09-2008 Dawn of War 2 is coming out pretty soon, though I've never played 1. Maybe we could try out one of the games Vandam mentioned in a little while. Re: Civilization 4, in my FNF ? - Wedge - 12-09-2008 The only game I would ever play is Heroes of Might and Magic III. Yes it's turn-based because it's old, but it's still totally fucking awesome. And then you can have your DS on hand so you can game while you game when it's not your turn. Re: Civilization 4, in my FNF ? - ToiletDuck - 12-09-2008 all the DoW games, i has them. @Caff, the resource and pop couldn't be more simple... you capture those strategic points and built a listening post on them. boom, resources are generated. i can't remember off hand how to increase pop, but i'm pretty sure it was just a building. Re: Civilization 4, in my FNF ? - Trace - 12-09-2008 DoW is a good choice in my book. It's fast paced, simple, and I don't think the maps being static is a problem in this game. Maybe I just got stomped too fast, I was playing dark eldar and I couldn't build any defensive structures, then my army hit its cap really really fast despite building more slave buildings and then I got stomped by someone playing Tau in like 8 minutes, who then proceeded to take his giant robots and rape fucking everything.
