My girlfriend does not eat bread so she enjoys her burgers without buns. What non-hot herbs and spices can I use to flavor it for her? No cheese either.

Steak. Flavour it with steak.

re: burgers options - blue cheese, worcestershire sauce, caramelized onions, old bay, jane's crazy mixed up pepper / salt. (not all at once, or, all at once).

You could try some Montreal steak seasoning or Old Bay. Really the best thing is to make sure it's properly seasoned with salt and pepper. Any other flavors need to layer onto that. There are other toppings you can play around with too like onions and mushrooms like Rummy said.

+2 for McCormick products, those are tasty. Their Tuscan blend is really good on chicken/turkey burgers too.

This time I put the ribs on a bed of potatos after drizzling some BBQ sauce on them. Very pleased with how it came out...I think next time Id put the ribs over a bed of black beans, let the BBQ sauce boil on the beans and rib juice

Re: Cooking Thread - KarthXLR - 09-17-2014

So I'm trying out new recipes and I always want feedback on it. My new roommate won't eat any vegetables. Or sausage. Or fried foods. Or most fruit. Or certain types of sweets.

As a matter of fact she really only eats hamburger helper, spaghetti with no sauce, instant ramen, and fast food.

My pretentious inner chef is fucking sobbing.

Freaky Eaters- Addicted to Cheesy Potatoes

Re: Cooking Thread - at0m - 09-17-2014

Well, according to tumblr, Cheesy potatoes give you everything you need to live. The only thing Potatoes themselves are missing are vitamins A & D, which are provided by fortified Milk and/or Cheese.

The most shocking thing is that she is not overweight in the slightest.

Re: Cooking Thread - Evil Cheese - 09-17-2014

I've been making my own pasta sauces lately and I can't tell you how much better it tastes than store-bought with only a minimal amount of effort. A can of crushed tomatoes, some olive oil, a bit of onion and garlic sauteed in said olive oil and deglazed with the tomatoes, salt, pepper, basil, oregano, a bit of marjoram, let simmer and bam you have a tasty tomato sauce. Add some zucchini, carrots, and/or mushrooms if you want a bit more depth. Then have fun exploring the world of cream sauces and pesto.
