Mirror's Edge is most definitely NOT worth $5 and is, in-fact, a bad game. You'll regret paying even a little money for it.

Except I think the total opposite. It's a new IP with a new gameplay concept that really hasn't been done before. this world still needs new IPs, as not perfect as they are. There are no major control gripes, other than the fact the plot isn't very good, it's passable, for a new IP's first entry, it is quite good. It has good production values, the narrative is there it isn't perfect but it has good voice acting and cool characters despite how little backstory there is. I have a gripe with the cutscenes, they should've used the in-game engine for those or used CG cutscenes. The time-trials are excellent and kept me entertained for a good while trying to beat times, so many different ways to do the courses I never would have guessed worked. I got pretty damn good at that. It's way better than most companies' first tries into a new IP.

also, the one gripe is I tried to get the Pacifist achievement and the achievement for beating it on Hard at the same time and it was impossible, the very last enemy would kill you no matter which way you took to approach him.

Mirror's Edge is most definitely worth $5 and is, in-fact, a pretty good game. Not great, but easily worth five bucks.

I lol at the fact that this is still used as an excuse. I at least beat the game before judging it.

I hated it because the plot sucked, the gameplay tried something that was REALLY COOL and turned it into a horrible mess of a combat system, and overall got repetitive with little-to-no replay value.

This is why I hated it.

Pro tip, the game is not about combat.  I actually mostly want to get it just for the trial modes, since you don't even have to deal with enemies for that stuff.

I bought Evil Genius, the THQ pack, Chronicles of Riddick, Monkey Island, and Mirror's Edge all for under $70.

This.. i even liked it... Maybe shooting guns sucked a bit but the game wasn't an FPS..

Try and have your own opinions insdtead of adapting those from reviewers from websites.. most of the time they are prey of they hype or just like to create controversy..

A great example is Destructoid, even if ireally like their style, i never EVER trust their reviews. Almost every reviewer tries too hard to be "hardcore gamuuur". Also their score system sucks.. 4.5 to AC2 just because it didn't lived up to the hype? i mean, AC2 isn't a great game and all, but if AC2 gets a 4.5 what's left for Ninja Gaiden 2? a game even more repetitive and dull? oh wait.. it got a 7.5... Just because it's got lots of blood and it makes you feel hardcoooore (yeaaah, hate that term)..

Fuck you Sterling

NG2 and AC2 are both good games, obviously they aren't the best, but they're fun.

also just to spite karth, I just bought it as well

Re: Steam Early Holiday sale. Different deals each day for 5 days. - Versus - 12-01-2009

I bought Mirror's Edge earlier and gave a copy to a friend as well.

Re: Steam Early Holiday sale. Different deals each day for 5 days. - Bonesinger - 12-01-2009

Mirrors Edge is fucking great. It might take a while to get used to but once you get up to doing the time trials and speed runs it's a blast. The combat system feels good and I would love to see the movement style and weapon use mixed into a multilayer FPS however I think it ruins the campaign experience a bit. Yeah the story was meh but like in Borderlands I couldn't care less.

Anyone know if the Time Trial DLC is available for PC?

Hurp Durp Edit:

KINDA SPOILERS

Actually it is possible. My guess is you are talking about the server room. Just disarm everyone in the room and save the guy with the Light MG on the catwalk for last. Use Reflex time and doge his shots to get close enough to do a disarm. From there you can just shoot the servers with any gun since that doesn't count against the achievement. If you mean the final boss Just run forward and jump over the obstacle. It's a 4 second boss battle. If you're just talking about enemies in general just run past them. There might be one or two that you will have to disarm but you should be able to just sprint through most groups of baddies.

I hope you never get into a spiting match like this with Versus, you'll end up living on the street after he buys your house or something
