ttgl is okay

TTGL is likely the only really decent anime to come out in the past 4-5 years.

However there is better then NGE.

Berserk for example is absolutely outstanding.

If, of course, you like watching something that is nothing more than a prolouge to an actual story. Imagine going to see some random space movie, and instead of seeing the movie, it's just an hour of them sitting on the shuttle getting ready to launch.

It's the Hellsing OVA. The OVA follows the manga almost exactly.

The OVA is actually made after the anime.
The anime was fairly badass, but for some reason it strayed from the manga 1/2 way through.
Gonzo animation, very detailed and super slick.
Amazing soundtrack. Solid voice acting. Hell, even the English dubs for the anime (and I never advise watching with dubs) are decent.

I think he meant wtf was going on in it...

Hellsing is an anime/manga that revolves around a conflict between three groups, the Hellsing Organization, an arm of the Church of England that protects the UK from the paranormal (ie, mostly vampires and demons), and they primarily use other vampires to fight them. The second groups is Iscariot, the demon fighting wing of the catholic church, who see basically anyone who isn't catholic as a heretic that needs to be destroyed.

The last group is the remnant of a nazi occult experiment to create artificial vampires called the Leteze Battalion (aka Millennium), bent on revenge on Hellsing and the UK for WWII.

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - Ianki - 07-28-2009

watched gurren lagann.

At the end they were literally battling on top of universes, it had a clip show by episode six (wtf?), had no real character devolpment, and is the basic embodiment of the "have fighting spirit, will travel" anime mentality.

I really wish it would have imposed some rules on itself so it didn't seem like the writers just decide "okay, now they can do this".  I literally think that the entire thing was written with a collection of dice with plot points written on them.

But still, i didn't want to especially stop watching it, so i guess i'll give it that, and the episodes between the time lapse and them launching into space were pretty good.

watching this next:

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - Coppanuva - 07-28-2009

I bring... Sayanora Zetsubo Sensei! AKA So Long, Mr.Despair
It's about this teacher who's suicidal. All of his classes are filled with these girls who have something wrong with them, and it's basically a parody of modern cultures and whatnot. Like there's one where there's a hikkikomori (spelling? The people who don't want to leave their room), and he has to try to find a way to get her to leave and go to school. Each episode has 2-3 short little stories in it. It's a comedy series, so plot isn't a huge focus, though it is funnier if you watch it from the start. Here's the first part of episode 1 (because there's no good trailers and the OP is really weird). Start around 20 seconds in.

So...much...One Piece. Every damn character is colorful and imaginative and it never gets boring, even the filler arcs don't feel like filler because something always happens to keep your attention. I don't care how much 4kids butchered this, it's amazing in japanese.

On episode 240 or so right now...only 200 more. -_-

I thought you completely hated anime, or is it just watashi wa super kawaii ^____________________^ tards that fill you with Daverage.

And Chopper's arc was ok, not really spectacular like the newer ones I've seen.

Wapol is the best villian on the entire One Piece universe.

Temporary restart of the anime thread makes me happy.

Even if gurren lagann wasn't the second coming of the messiah like some of you have claimed  Big Grin

Gurren Lagaan is like God of War. It's not horribly deep and there's not much character development beyond "This guy kills things and shit." but as a spectacle it is pretty well made.

Also Chopper's for furries. Usopp is a man's man.

Re: Anime Thread: Continuation - Squishy3 - 07-28-2009

Marvel Anime Iron Man teaser

I cannot wait for this. I will watch the english dub if they get Robert Downey for it. If not, then japanese it is.
