Because it takes out the entire process of catching and raising pokemon. You just enter in max evs, ivs and perfect movesets in a few seconds. It's great for testing stuff out, but I could never imagine playing that full time.

the competitive metagame changes so fast that it's not even worth it anymore, thus i play shoddy

Levels don't matter though, the game autoscales them to 100 or 50. Only thing you have to worry about are EVs and movesets, both of which are far easier then there made out to be.

  I have returned and should be able to have the battle sometime this week. I work on Tuesdays and Thursdays, although this may be changing into a more rigorous work schedule. However work starts at 5pm Eastern. I plan on doing a write up of the battle and documenting every move. Tonight I may not be available as I'm spending the later part of the day with a friend who's going to be leaving early tomorrow. Hopefully there won't be much more of a wait.
