Re: Serious Business: Semi-Casual Amalgamation of Semi-Competitive Players. - copulatingduck - 06-09-2008 Plenty of clans don't have a unified form for the tag. And others even claim the non-uniformity shows 'rank.' Unless we want a special tag to separate the competitive from the community (I don't think it's necessary). Also: The Wednesday scrim is starting at 8pm EST. My apologies to the Euros, in advance, I'll attempt to get something rolling on Ain's server at your timezones forthwith. Re: Serious Business: Semi-Casual Amalgamation of Semi-Competitive Players. - copulatingduck - 06-09-2008 The Fratellis are playing in town on Wed. at 8pm.... :'( If there is a separate time for Euros, might I be able to play in there? I've been waiting for this concert for weeks. :'( Re: Serious Business: Semi-Casual Amalgamation of Semi-Competitive Players. - Kor - 06-09-2008 (06-09-2008, 08:45 AM)copulatingduck link Wrote: The Fratellis are playing in town on Wed. at 8pm.... :'( There will be more then one scrim happening, there's no way I can properly evaluate anyone from a single performance. I think we should have some distinction between competition brb.u members and standard. (06-09-2008, 08:28 AM)Kor link Wrote: I'll refer you, ZoSo, to the title of the thread. What does the title of this thread have to do with our clan name? I thought it was just some random title on a thread. If we are naming our clan BAL-SACK I think I'm going to be competing elsewhere. Doesn't mean I'd leave BrB.U servers (06-09-2008, 07:38 AM)Vandamguy link Wrote:
i don't think you've quite grasped the spirit of the community yet.
Please elaborate. *************** I understand this is all just for fun, but I do believe in having a tag that isn't something a 13yr old kid would make up. See yall at the scrim on Wed @ 8PM EST Re: Serious Business: Semi-Casual Amalgamation of Semi-Competitive Players. - Surf314 - 06-09-2008 Zoso, it was a joke. The idea is that we aren't going to have a real clan with a real tag, but we'd scrim with some other clans in friendly matches and kick their asses. Because we are cool like that. Explaining the joke has officially ruined it, much apologies to Rummy. I will live the rest of my life in shame now, as the joke was epic in proportions. Re: Serious Business: Semi-Casual Amalgamation of Semi-Competitive Players. - ZoSo - 06-09-2008 make sure you read my post again, I think you read it way too early Re: Serious Business: Semi-Casual Amalgamation of Semi-Competitive Players. - Surf314 - 06-09-2008 All this sort of brings up a point though, something I think we should address. Our major allure and defining characteristic is that we are anti-competitive anti-douchecocknozzle. So making this too formal or rigid would sort of destroy that. I mean at our heart we are a group of people that play and joke around and are friendly and want to get away from people that are immature and are overly competitive or just plain assholes. The point is maybe we should approach this in a different way. Instead of forming rigid teams and tiers is there a way we can do this that fits more in line with our groups personality? I was thinking of a couple different things and maybe someone has an idea. One is to seperate us into skill tiers and then each match we would use a set number of each tier and pick those people at random so everyone would have a chance to play every match. The skill tiers would have to be constantly re-assessed though. The other idea is based around our pick-ups. What if we had sort of a group of captains like 2-4 and these people could pick from a pool of people that were interested. Then we could play some friendly inter-brbu matches and the top captain would be the one who would pick the team for the match with whoever. Then we'd reset and 2-4 new people could be captains. I like the second idea better, because it fits with us more and is less complicated. Plus it won't create any elitism. If anyone can think of something better though that would be cool.
