Meh; looks too different, almost like it's a completly new class :X Maybe I'm just whiny though.
Yes. You are. Valve is using the updates to create sub-classes of sorts.
Yea from what I've heard it's to round out the classes in a way that makes them swap out their strengths and weaknesses. Like Demoman was a medium/long range character that was more cerebral and strategic and hard to use and now he can be a short range tank. Wide damage area before, narrow now. He was a good person to uber before and now he is again but for entirely different reasons.
True, but the game is perfectly balanced as is.

Karth only says it because he sucks.

Big donkey balls.

I'm still amazed people still use this as an excuse.

To be fair, it's much more balanced than any other game on the market, but the new updates have imbalanced TF2 to a less stable level.

I will probably go with the chargin' targe instead of the Stickies, i barely use stickies as it is (i am a curven' kinda guy 8)), i will miss mah bottle though.

Anyone try to find out what the 3rd is? I saw "Sco (rest of word cut off) Res (cut off again)" on the boxes. I figure it's something like Scottish Res (no clue).

I'm thinking "Scottish Reserve," most likely a new scotch for him and possibly something similar to the Sandvich.  This is just my 2 ¢ of course.

Also, this is worth noting: http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/272/responseedit.jpg

There is also some talk in the Steam forums of Meet the Pyro releasing tonight.  I realize that place is about as reliable as a 4chan thread but it goes without saying that at least some of the information on their is worth a read, and truth IS stranger than fiction.

I thought the same thing but unless nothing takes the primary slot having all three equipped would have him be 100% melee which I just can't see happening.
I don't think the Scottish Reserve would be a melee, but a temporary buff, similar to the Sandvich.  However, as I type this I see the issue here.  Targe replaces winbombs, Eyelander replaces bottle....Reserve replaces......yeah.  Unless it replaced the Pipe launcher (doubtful) it is going to be a trade off like the Sniper.  Either replaces his melee and you have to make a choice.

real men use pipes anyway

Re: Demomen thread for non-American Drunks. [demos4ever] - Surf314 - 12-15-2009

I think everyone seems to be missing that this not only solves demos close range problem but it is also a solution to the turtle problem. A charging demo can break a line down and let his teammates through behind him. That seems to be the goal of these updates, to solve situations where the gameplay breaks down into something not as fun.

Soldier is winning, I really hope people don't give their resolve up just because the Demo got an update. Stick to your guns grenade launchers.... or rocket launchers bottles.
Okay, so Pauling told the demo (or Travish) that the soldier accepted the deal. BUT however, nothing has been shown of the soldier accepting this deal, and seeing how the demo's weapons only were revieled once they were shown in the comic, I'm willing to bet the soldier was not met by Pauling yet. She only told Travish that the soldier accepted the deal to make him feel as if he's been abandoned. Later on, she'll tell the soldier the same thing she told Travish, he accepted the deal and is willing to kill his best friend.

So called it.  8)

Now lets see how it's ended...

and don't say (there's no "to be continued" this time)

Realised the shield makes you lose sticky jumps.

And winbombs...

Worst. Item. Ever.

Re: Demomen thread for non-American Drunks. [demos4ever] - Versus - 12-15-2009

Tavish is not the demoman's name, in that sentence it refers to his father.

That's what I thought at first, but she calls him Tavish again on the second page. And regardless, on the first mention she says "your father" immediately afterwards; how like is it that she would feel the need to specify his own father's name?

Too vague to be definitive for me :-\

Backfire, a person, god bless him, was just quoted.

Quote:I miss him, Travish. Every day.

I haven't seen him, Backfire, on Tf2.

It is still indefinitive.  The second one more definitive than the first, but still could be argued.

the period where you placed a comma in your explanation makes a difference

okay. I thought that the period just meant a longer pause and was trying to show that the idea was connected (at least how I read it) but "On Tf2" doesn't stand alone as well. I guess it is how you read it, I am just saying that it is not definite (or my understanding of the uses of periods is wrong).

Demomen get a defensive sticky launcher.  Twice as many stickies, can create sticky groups to only blow up specific areas and it has a slightly longer primer, so no airburst kills.

Interesting....I'll have to see how that works.
