Re: Comic Book Thread - copulatingduck - 02-21-2010 would rather buy it 1-2 issues at a time, to see whether or not I'll actually enjoy it (the concept is appealing at least, dunno about execution). But thanks, I didn't even think to look on amazon lol Re: Comic Book Thread - K2 - 02-21-2010 (02-21-2010, 03:27 PM)Duck link Wrote: I saw this trailer: *NEW* Kick Ass Restricted Red Band Trailer - 2-19-2010 I've read it; it's definitely not Mark Millar's best work. It starts out interesting, but it ends up not really having any focus and devolves into a really shallow plot. Also that book Karth linked doesn't include the last two issues. Re: Comic Book Thread - copulatingduck - 02-21-2010 i cant spell anything so demonoid was a bust, thx for the link tho Re: Comic Book Thread - Surf314 - 02-27-2010 I hit the jackpot at the book store. New Jack and Fables went straight comedy for the most part for the crossover and dear lord I haven't laughed so hard at a comic book in ever. Also finally got to see what the fuss was about with Heavy Liquid by Paul Pope. It's a solid cyber punk story but the art is amazing. Like absolutely jaw dropping amazing. Every panel could be framed. Any artists here that are interested in modern and comic book art should check it out. Re: Comic Book Thread - Surf314 - 02-27-2010 Wow people seriously need to get Heavy Liquid. Re: Comic Book Thread - Trace - 04-25-2010 Just bought Pride of Baghdad by Brian K Vaughan. Aww yeaaa 8) Re: Comic Book Thread - copulatingduck - 04-25-2010 is it any good? thx for nothing trace :-* Re: Comic Book Thread - Surf314 - 04-25-2010 (04-25-2010, 12:15 AM)Trace link Wrote: Just bought Pride of Baghdad by Brian K Vaughan. Re: Comic Book Thread - Trace - 05-24-2010 Just read the first issue of this and so far it's pretty good. It's a french comic about a cool assassin dude. Also reading this Really liking the art style and premise. Basically about an immortal dude who travels through time to save the human race. Re: Comic Book Thread - Odin - 05-24-2010 Oh hi this thread. Can anyone recommend a badass/fun to read graphic novel for me? I'd prefer if it came in an anthology so I don't have to buy a million tiny books, I really liked Watchmen, Sin City, and 300. Never bothered to go out and look for other comics, so recommendations appreciated thanks. Sandman Fables DMZ Lucifer Northlanders Really anything by Brian Wood, Mike Carey, or Neil Gaiman. Re: Comic Book Thread - Trace - 05-24-2010 Also Ex Machina Re: Comic Book Thread - Surf314 - 05-24-2010 (05-24-2010, 06:59 PM)Trace link Wrote: Also Ex Machina That comic has moments of brilliance and major dragging sections. Kind of like Y: The Last Man. I need to finish Y and catch up on Ex Machina :-\ Also the Walking Dead is p great if you like zombie movies. And if you don't mind being left hanging there was an amazing comic called Gotham Central that got canceled because one of the creators got a better offer and the comic was never really popular during its run. It's a procedural crime story based in Batman's Gotham, which is amazing because it really explores the everyman versus the impossible (supervillains). If you read it and then re-watch The Dark Knight I'm convinced it borrowed heavily from that series. There was one part in the movie I just knew something was going to happen that didn't because everything looked exactly how I remembered it from the comic. There were two really stand out arcs that everyone should read, one features the joker and the other two-face. Re: Comic Book Thread - rumsfald - 05-24-2010 Wilson was better than expected. [/quote] Criminal is the single greatest series of the last ten years. Hand down, not one better. Well, the last series, Sinners, wasn't 100% great, but the first four (Coward, Lawless, The Dead and The Dying, (my favorite) Bad Night) are pitch perfect noir tone. |
