In the first game the way you leveled up was taking pictures. In the second, you combine items and as you rescue people or find cards you get combo cards. It earns you extra PP whenever you kill a zombie with that weapon.

What's a PP, and what does leveling up do? Also, do you need a combo card to be able to create Shotgun Rakes or anything or can you just do that from the get go

PP is prestige points. In the first game, you got them by rescuing survivors, killing certain numbers of zombies, or taking pictures of them in certain categories. In this one, instead of a camera, you got a "big-ass roll of duct tape" to mash two whatever objects you have and make some sorta weapon. If you kill a zombie with these kinds of weapons, you get PP for it. You can't combine everything, but there are quite a lot of combinations in the game. The items that can be combined  You don't need a combo card to make combos, but by having one when you create a combo, the weapon will be much more durable, you'll earn twice the PP per zombie kill, and even get an alternate attack for it.

You level up by earning more PP, and for every level, you either get an stat bonus, a combo card, or a new move. Stat bonus will effect stuff like your inventory, move speed, damage per attack, long range damage, health, and some other stuff I can't remember.

Re: Dead Rising 2 - Maxon - 09-30-2010

The lack of alternate game modes upon completion is disappointing...Was hoping for at least a less lame version of the one they had for the first game that didn't have health depletion.  I guess the co-op/multiplayer tradeoff is worth it, but still a bummer.

Maybe there will be some mods sooner or later to give it some more. Also, I just bought it. Will play tomorrow.

Edit: Worth doing coop for the first time through?

Re: Dead Rising 2 - Maxon - 09-30-2010

Definitely abit more fun with a buddy to go through the game with.  Up to you.

And I hope they have some DLC for it like a free-roam mode.  I'd pay a buck or two for something that allows me to play without all the attachments of survivors and missions and for just pure free roam.

Re: Dead Rising 2 - Luca Shoal - 09-30-2010

Problem solved, got my DLC code no prob. Took me awhile to figure out where the hell the closet was though.

You can ignore the story completely with no consequences other than big red messages when you "fail" something.  So why free roam?

Re: Dead Rising 2 - Maxon - 09-30-2010

Well it's not just free-roam, but in DR1, it also had survivors as someone you can battle along with psycho's.  It was nice other than the random health depletion thing they added where you had to constantly get health.

Re: Dead Rising 2 - Maxon - 01-01-2011

And for those that didn't know, Case West was released last week.  A good setup for the inevitable Dead Rising 3 that I think will have both Chuck and Frank in the main game.

Re: Dead Rising 2 - backfire - 01-02-2011

so question, anyone else have this and still haven't beaten it due to the repetitive and time consuming tasks? I was pushing along in half-hour sessions just trying to finish it, then it's all like "lol, you ain't done yet bro".

I haven't touched it since then.
