Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Radio Raheem - 07-15-2010 community weapons are supposed to be fun and theres nothing fun about playing medic therefore they are disqualified Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - PyroZombie - 07-15-2010 (07-15-2010, 08:19 PM)Tim link Wrote: community weapons are supposed to be fun and theres nothing fun about playing medic therefore they are disqualifiedhey tim, your stuff's gone. It's fun playing medic. You are the 2nd-most influential class. Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - copulatingduck - 07-15-2010 wow seriously, you think medic is 2nd most influential? Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - beep beep diglett - 07-15-2010 yeah scouts are the most important, bonk destroys sentries b) Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - K2 - 07-15-2010 I know this is only tangentially related, but whatever. Some of the Polycount people are making models of the 1850s characters. http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=74716 Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - beep beep diglett - 07-15-2010 hahaa those kinda own Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - PyroZombie - 07-15-2010 (07-15-2010, 08:27 PM)Duck link Wrote: wow seriously, you think medic is 2nd most influential?Second only to the engineer. The medic has the ability to make classes stronger health-wise, make the chance of crits go up to 100%, and make the strongest class invincible. Sure, you may not have the combat power of the Heavy or Soldier, but you can latch onto one of these classes and make them stronger. In summary, by doing your job, your wrecking shit by extension of a different weapon-set; your teammates.
what Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - beep beep diglett - 07-15-2010 eightball this is a defensive game, you win by letting the timer tick down. medics are useless because the game ends really early and you dont win. Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - copulatingduck - 07-15-2010 im with 8ball on this one, wat Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - PyroZombie - 07-16-2010 (07-15-2010, 09:07 PM)Eightball link Wrote:
Second only to the engineer.
what
The Engi can set up aimbot turrets to attack everything in a certain area, and with this new update, repel almost any class that comes its way. There are only a few ways to stop this; Kill the engi and destroy the turret, ubercharge friendlies to take it down, or sap the building. Beyond this, The engineer can supply health, munition, and quick-transportation to the front line. adding this up, The engineer, is without a shadow of a doubt, the most important class and can make or break a proper match. Before anyone brings it up: While this is a team-based game, certain classes are stronger and better suited to certain situations. Since most game types are simply attack and defense of a objective(Payload, CTF, CP, etc) the engineer is useful in most situations, whether it be holding the line and moving up when more area is covered or keeping the attackers at bay.
hmm engi doesnt do anything the medic does even half as well, dispensers are nice but dont even compare to a medic, kritz is amazing on defense and will clear out the entire blu team, ubers are NECESSARY for winning against a decent defense. comparitively, you can defend just as well as an engi with a demo or a heavy + a medic. engis are great, and if you get a ton of them it can be impossible to break the line, but medics win games. if one team has a medic and the other doesnt, you can be sure who is going to win.
When Heavies can shoot a target with as much prejudice as a level 3, I'll trade my toolbox for a minigun. The Heavy/medic combination is a great combination, don't get me wrong, but it's just not as ideal as a engi. The turret is a machine, so it doesn't carry the cluelessness of a typical human player, it shoots the closest enemy with extreme hostility. It doesn't need to be in front of it, because it knows as soon as it gets in range. While the spy is a direct counter to the engi(I say this due to the fact that the spy holds the only tool that can disable AND destroy buildings.) The spy takes a heavy+medic combo faster then a engi+buildings, if the engi is next to his buildings, which most should. With the Wrangler however, that becomes something completely different. Focusing on the medigun and the dispenser: The dispenser, in it's full potential, has the advantage of a constant rate faster than a medic's ability to heal, according to the TF2 wiki, which I just found out is ad-central now. While overcharging is greatly benificial, the medic holds fruitful to human imperfection. a dispenser will always heal you regardless of petty annoyances. However some medics tend to heal with prejudice (Friend, one person at a time, Attack classes only, Heavy Only, you catch my drift). The dispenser heals universally. The dispenser also holds the ability to supply ammo, which when a common heavy runs out of ammo, they have to use their fists, which, while destructive, will not be good attacking a full-base with. And furthermore, considering the wrangler more, The Engi now has the ability to spycheck using his greatest weapon. The engi may not be a apex class that can attack and defend at the same time, but he certainly thrives, present considered, in his element more then others do. Edited to add things. and duck, what's with the cat? Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Didzo - 07-16-2010 After 15 minutes of contemplating how to reply to the thing I just read, I can only echo the wisdom of Eightball: what Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Radio Raheem - 07-16-2010 oh my god what happened when i was sleeping. engy the strongest in pubs? more effective than a heavy? ill just say this. dave you remember yesterday when we were a heavy medic combo? you think any of that would have happened if we were basically any other 2 classes much less a pair of engies or something? yeah i didnt think so medic is useless when you have complete retards around you but when you have even 1 decent player its incredibly overpowered. theres basically 2 ways to turn around an awful team without actually being any good at all your self. go medic or go heavy and pray someone else goes medic. without the heavy most classes just dont have the firepower and longevity to take down as many people as are in a pub but once you link those two classes together magic happens. if youre not going atleast 5:1 as a heavy with a med youre doing something very very wrong also this is far from a defensive game. the game awards agression to every class but the engy and argueably a terrible demo who only traps although a jumping demo is really really strong |
