I watched Catch Me If You Can for the first time tonight, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

I want to, it looks like what The Expendables should've been kinda.

I loved the Expendables. The trick was to not take that movie remotely seriously and laugh at Sylvester Stalone being old.

Also, Terry Crews rocking an AA-12 was kind of fun to watch.

Why are all Stallone films about him being old now? I mean, there was John Rambo, about Rambo being old, there's the Expendables, about a mercenary being old and shooting shit, and then there was Rocky Balboa. Which was about Rocky...being old. 'Course, I loved Rocky Balboa, and the acting in it was superb. (The scene where Stallone was talking about 'there still being something in the basement' is wonderful) The others? Well, not so much.

because as unfortunate as it is, Stallone has become a parody of himself.

Yeah, I thought they did a great job with that. One of the best local movies I've watched.

This movie was so good it makes me angry. I wanted this to be mediocre. I WANTED it to crash and burn. But no, the flowing story, excellent acting, superb script, and amazing cinematography stopped me from hating it.

This is easily the best movie I've seen this year and I hate it for that very reason.

Re: The Movie Thread - at0m - 10-17-2010

the biggest problem with that movie is that it's mostly fictionalized, and people are going to remember him for doing shit he never did, because of that movie.

Re: The Movie Thread - Fail Medic - 10-17-2010

I am looking forward to December.  TRON: Legacy will be a guilty pleasure, and now my friend tells me that Jeff Bridges will also be the Marshal in a remake of True Grit.  This interests me.

You clearly don't have that much experience with either Aaron Sorkin or David Fincher.

Re: The Movie Thread - Black Aspen - 10-17-2010

Karth, why did you want to hate that movie so much?

To be honest, I'm not even really sure.

Re: The Movie Thread - Turtle - 10-17-2010

jackass 3d was awesome, only problem is that they'd need to edit the tv version so much that it would probably only last 30 minutes

Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 10-19-2010

how dare this thread fall to the bottom of the page!

Watched Full Metal Jacket yesterday and The 39 Steps (Hitchcock version) yesterday. Both great movies, but thanks to Kubrick I can't get that freakin' song out of my head. (hint: BIRD BIRD BIRD, BIRD IS THE WORD, B-B-B-B-URD BURD BURD)

Might as well check my blockbuster queue:

Dexter isn't a movie.

First one felt like a twelve hour movie. And that's a good thing.
