Then a day or two later, I joined a random server to collect my drops. It was on Badlands. Bam, 8 items. The usual: "xxx: dirty idler; yyy: hax; zzz: omg wtf". Roll on about 15 minutes later, I'm almost top of the server as Sniper, baked as shit, at that point even I was convinced I was hacking. Then... out of nowhere:

Can't really say if crafting my solly hat increased drops, but I did get mining light next day. Keep in mind tho mining light was 4 months after my first hat drop (cancer engineer).
If I get another hat in the next 4 months, then maybe it did increase my rate.

So TF2 blog just got updated, looks like now you don't recieve more drops idling than from just playing, even for a few hours a week.
I guess Valve killed idling at last :\

i just dont get why theyre punishing the people who are most enthusiastic and care the most about getting the hats, simply because the people who hardly care complain a lot. catering to the wrong crowd imo, will pirate hl3 out of protest
