Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Radio Raheem - 08-06-2010 well quakes strength isnt exactly the single player anyway Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - shoopfox - 08-06-2010 I liked Quake 2 as a single player game Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - HeK - 08-06-2010 (08-06-2010, 10:35 AM)Tim link Wrote: well quakes strength isnt exactly the single player anyway No, it's strength is that it spawned multiplayer shooters, recognized competitions, TF and popular mods in general. Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - PyroZombie - 08-07-2010 So it's strength is that enough people wanted another game, people made one? Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Radio Raheem - 08-07-2010 not really. quake 3 was considered the best 1v1 game by far and is basically still heavily played today even though it came out in 1999. quake live is pretty much just a free version of quake 3 with slight tweaks. its got the most advanced movement, aim, and intelligence in any fps game by far so its pretty much the ultimate competitive game. capture the flag, duel, team death match etc still have 5+ international tournaments a year Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - copulatingduck - 08-07-2010 I know you just started gaming on a PC and all PyroZombie, but learn your fucking roots man. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Id_Software and if you still don't get it, watch this http://www.fragmovie.com/ Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - rumsfald - 08-08-2010 (08-05-2010, 11:22 AM)Kirby, the AxeHammer Zealot link Wrote: Where's your series of games that, next to Doom, are p.much heralded worldwide by any PC gamer and every review outlet as the best game of all time, ever. No honorable mentions for the Diablo series? Or Warcraft? Is this limited to FPS-es? (true story, I had to do a presentation in grad school on sports psychology, so I carted in my tower case and monitor and played for the class one of the first q3 final matches of fatal1ty where he did a double rocket-jump (before his name was on a mouse)). Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Radio Raheem - 08-08-2010 seriously? thats awesome and yeah diablo should easily be mentioned among the best series Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - PyroZombie - 08-08-2010 (08-07-2010, 01:51 PM)Duck link Wrote: I know you just started gaming on a PC and all PyroZombie, but learn your fucking roots man.I know of Id's accomplishments, and I've seen the videos, but I've also played quake multiplayer through quake live. Don't think I don't know anything just because I'm "new" to the scene. I watch many things, and I learn from them. Quake's strength comes from heavy popularity, and an over-the top fanbase, but it certainly doesn't mean it's a game compared to the new games of today. The love of the old games just comes from nostalgia, and from the evolution from that to newer breeds of games, so is it better game to tf2? No, It's insane to say that, but is Quake responsible for TF2? Of course, and I love Id for making it because of that but from a straight logical standpoint, the best games are the newer ones that take the great parts of the old and the creator's own great ideas and meshes them into a better game. So unless the Scout drink the bonk right next to me, it's hard to aim anyway (the only situation i can figure is a corridor, and your oponent is a Heavy)
Fixed. For old times' sake. Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Geoff - 08-08-2010 dear god rummy if i could +1 one you harder i would. not only is hilarious, pyrozombie will NEVER understand it. Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - PyroZombie - 08-08-2010 http://www.brbuninstalling.com/forum/index.php?action=printpage;topic=2465.0 That's the most I can find on it. I'm going to say it has something to do with the high-pace shooting style of Quake and claiming I can't keep up. Either that or a inside joke on vongore.
yes clearly tf2 with its terrible hitboxes and netcode is far far superior to quake. i mean who wants a game that actually registers shots correctly and has perfect weapon balance right? and forget about actually having to use sound and think about where your opponent may be that sounds stupid why would anyone ever want that when you can play 32 man dustbowl as a pyro or engy youre one of those retards who thinks graphics = good arent you anyone remember that movie or book whatever it was where they can tell who is going to be a criminal and arrest them before commiting the crime? i wish we could do that with abortion to prevent this level of retardedness from coming into the world Re: Updates of the Week (ongoing discussion) - Kirby - 08-09-2010 This thread has been successfully derailed, Kirby style. Yes TF2, but it is why more balanced then quake goes. Quake, someone new to the game stands as much chance as a boy in the middle of the ocean. If you don't know where the weapons are your fucked, if you don't know how to use the methods, your fucked, and if you think your have a chance against people playing since the original Quake III was out your fucked,AND retarded. To say Quake is balance is stupefying. how can a game where a race to a weapon spawn ultimate be balanced? Of course, you might not be saying Quake is balanced. Then I invite you, say what is more balanced then a game where it is constantly under scrutiny by it's makers? I have never seen something like TF2 when it comes to patches, and updates, and promotions. Most games in the past that were broken, stayed broken. You get these broken elements fixed on a monthly basis, which is a hell of a lot more then games back in the day, yet again driving my point home. Don't bring your own class-bias-ism into this either. I'm not mentioning anything as small as one class flaw here, not anyone of the classes I've been pissed off by, because I know there is a simple way to counter them. The heavy? Spy, Sniper, Crit Rocket, list goes on. Soldier? Pyro, Demo, Spy. Scout? Tricking him around a corner. Will their always be a problem? Yes! Of course! But your a fucking wackjob for saying there shouldn't, because it isn't possible for a flawless game and it is immature and stupid to ask for anything to be perfect. But a game that's constantly modified has a better chance of it happening then some left back in time. And no, as a matter of fact, I'm not. I fucking berate people who would rather play a shined up shit, rather then a Diamond in the Rough. My brother is one of those people, and I cannot stand his taste in games. For the example of games I still play that don't match up graphically with it's competitor, Look up Fire Pro Wrestling Returns, It's a pixilated 2-D wrestling game made by a company that has made this brand of game for years. It is the best wrestling game out now or later. The Computer logic is brilliant, The create system is massive and It has features that will never see the light of day again in a wrestling game. This came out for the PlayStation 2, but it is better then any wrestling game on a next gen console. I have not bought any new wrestling games since I bought this, because it will not match up, and it's about the game-play, not on how good it looks. Know me, before you go slinging shit that isn't true. That is that. Un-derail this thread, Frank. |
