That movie only had 2 people in it that could act.  Eastwood was one of them.

Still need to see that, along with Poseidon Adventure.

Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 11-30-2010

Meet the Parents was pretty good.

Re: The Movie Thread - HeK - 11-30-2010

I am getting a copy of this: http://restrepothemovie.com/

It won a number of Sundance awards, including best documentary. It's highly rated on Rotten Tomatoes.
Even the trailer is very powerful.

Re: The Movie Thread - Surf314 - 12-01-2010

I really want to see Forbidden Planet now that I heard it was one of Leslie Neilson's first movies.

Re: The Movie Thread - Live-Free-Or-Pie - 12-01-2010

Megamind surprisingly didn't suck

Best early exposition (post-metrocity takover and realization that having it all dosen't satisfy you) of a CGI movie in a while

Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 12-05-2010

Lawrence of Arabia - It was good, not great. Wish the first half felt more to me than just a bunch of pretty cinematography. The second act really picks up.

Alice in Wonderland (1951 Disney) - Really, really weird watching this again as an adult (ok, teenager). Surreal images keep it interesting, but there really is no plot (although that might be the point). Not Disney's finest, but god, decide for yourselves, it's more than likely you've seen it at one point in your life.

Re: The Movie Thread - KarthXLR - 12-09-2010

Omg, Hot Shots Part Deux was amazing.

Re: The Movie Thread - backfire - 12-10-2010

So netflix offered to give me another free month trial, so I went and took it. Rented How to Train Your Dragon since I missed it in theaters, loved it. I'm not really a huge fan of Dreamwork's other animated films, but this one defiantly stands out.  The animation was beautiful and while some of the plot is a lil clichéd, it actually moved me.  I'd probably place this up with near-pixar quality.

Hmm, I should netflix that.
OR stream it? I think netflix streaming quality is actually higher than DVD PQ, and we don't get netflix blu-rays Sad.

How to Train your Dragon is the closest Dreamworks is ever going to get to matching Pixar

Re: The Movie Thread - Luinbariel - 12-10-2010

That pretty much sums it up. I was really impressed with this one, I even liked the 3D enough to see it twice.

Re: The Movie Thread - Surf314 - 12-11-2010

If you like the movie the books are really good too. I'm not going to make a "books are better" argument because this one was done right. The movie is related but very much stands on its own and there is not much reason to try and compare them. They are both just solid entertainment.
