Anyone pick up Champions Online? - SAVAGE-0 - 09-01-2009

my interest is peaked.. and I kinda want to try it out... wish there was a damn demo for these pay per month games...

Re: Anyone pick up Champions Online? - Squishy3 - 09-01-2009

only form of demo was the beta for if you preordered it.

Re: Anyone pick up Champions Online? - Creepy - 09-02-2009

I played in the beta, and decided to pick up the game. I guess I wasn't done trying out the power sets, at least. And the flow of the game feels fairly interesting and not tedious.  You don't get a ton of powers at a time, but the talent point equivalents allow powers to upgraded in interesting ways.  And you can mix and match powers form pretty much any set, so there's a lot of possibilities.  Worth at least a month's tryout, I guess?

Re: Anyone pick up Champions Online? - Tragic Hero - 09-02-2009

I'm intrigued about this game.  Despite how Nerf-crazy the devs were from City of Heroes, I did enjoy City of Heroes a lot.  And since Champions Online seems to be City of Heroes on steroids im quite interested.

Re: Anyone pick up Champions Online? - SAVAGE-0 - 09-03-2009

i tried it... i found it pretty lacking in a LOT of areas...

-combat has potential, but I still find a bit off
-the visuals are CRAP - nothing looks remotely nice except for the characters (which are AWESOMELY fun to create)
-Spell system seems quite cool
-the whole inventory/equipable items does not seem enjoyable
-flying/transportation spells are absolutely awesome and are given at/around lvl 5... should be the case in all games haha

anyway - I won't be paying per month for it, thats for sure.  If you want any more details ask away...
WoW and EQ2 are still the only games I can ppm... i guess its the huge budgets Smile

/eagerly awaits D3

50 Bucks is enough for 5 months why can't i have 5 months free >Sad

Re: Anyone pick up Champions Online? - Squishy3 - 09-03-2009

I remember they had that liftime subscription deal, no idea if they still have it

Re: Anyone pick up Champions Online? - Mr. Face - 09-03-2009

But you can be a cooler superhero :'(

Re: Anyone pick up Champions Online? - Tragic Hero - 09-03-2009

I got it.  Superhero name is Tragic Hero.

And i've noticed that the game doesn't work in the traditional styling of an MMORPG where you pick a server.  Instead it seems you just pick an instance to join for a specific mission.

I can't play the game!?

Every time i click play it just goes to a little window saying GameClientExe has stopped working. Windows will look for the problem and notify you.

It never notified me.

Can you do a full file check or something?  Patches have been occurring pretty frequently, so maybe something is out of sync?

Free weekend starting next Friday, if I like it enough I might pick it up
