Stupid Question - Surf314 - 09-05-2009

Just moved my work computer and any resolution over 1024x768 keeps the resolution the same just increases the size of the desktop past the monitor. As in I have to scroll around to get to my start menu or the corners of the screen. How do I fix this? I had much higher resolution before.

This is not a helpful reply.  I had trouble hooking my laptop to an LCD TV.  I wanted the laptop to be further away than the typical VGA cord length so I used an extension. When I did that, though, my laptop no longer fully recognized the TV and gave it some generic designation and the reported max resolution was wrong.

I've only seen the pan-and-scan you're talking about when I hooked my PC to an old cathode TV and put the resolution too high.  Is the reported max resolution from your display incorrect?

It had to restart thanks to an update and everything went back to the way it was supposed to be. I really have no idea how or why that happened.
