Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. HALP! - If-I-Die-Its-Lag - 10-03-2009 Ever since I got a new computer, I kept on crashing for some odd reason on Source games. So far, it seems that way since I can play SFIV without any crash so far. I'm also sure that I updated my drivers. Any tips? Thank you in advance. Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. HALP! - zaneyard - 10-03-2009 it completely turns off? does it do a power off sequence, or does it cut power? are you accidentally hitting your power strip switch with your foot in excitement? Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. HALP! - KarthXLR - 10-03-2009 you bought a new computer with a 7400 GS in it? Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. HALP! - If-I-Die-Its-Lag - 10-03-2009 Actually, me and my dad build it from the ground up. And actually Zaneyard, I'm very sure that I did not hit the power strip by accident. HALP! - KarthXLR - 10-04-2009 Yeah, this sounds more like hardware and software problems. You might even try asking Valve about it. Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. HALP! - copulatingduck - 10-04-2009 what kind of poopy power supply did you install in it? Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. HALP! - zaneyard - 10-04-2009 i kinda assumed power supply, but i've never put a power supply in a computer that couldn't run it. i also found it odd that it would only do it on source games Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. HALP! - If-I-Die-Its-Lag - 10-04-2009 I sent Valve an email and hopefully, the problem could be fixed. Thanks to everybody who posted in this topic. Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. HALP! - Luinbariel - 10-04-2009 I told HeK about it, he says he thinks its the mobo, but that there will be more advice to follow. As for now... it's brunch time. Re: Computer keeps crashing on L4D and TF2. HALP! - HeK - 10-04-2009 What is your power supply brand and size? It's possible that Source games utilize extensions within your video card or CPU that other games or applications do not. This may either draw more power, generate more heat, or initiate a fault. How long can you play a source game before your computer shuts off? Can you monitor/log your temps/voltages (Speedfan?) and see if any trends relate to when your PC shuts off. I'd also run a Memtest86 and a few loops of 3DMark just for giggles, see if that has any effect. Right now I would lean at either a faulty power supply or motherboard. |
