Eurotrip? - SAVAGE-0 - 10-13-2009

So I've graduated college (08) got a job.. been here for way longer than I can stand.

Plan as of now:  1. Quit 2. Take summer off to hit up a bunch of countries in Europe 3. Law school in the fall

-So questions are as follows -
-Has anyone done a long trip cross countries?
-Any must see places?
-as of right now my (not so plan) plan is start in Morocco because my friend who is coming along with has most of his family there.  then to spain - so Mardid and Barcelona.  Then hug the sea and maybe do Marseille and Nice en route to Italy for Rome and another?  Then up through Zurich en route to Paris.  From there I'm not sure if I'd just go to London/Ireland or hit up Netherlands first... Without Netherlands I can do the 4 country pass (then the London Chunnel thing) for the train which is cheapest.

-Next one is a biggie: how long?  How long should I stay in each place?  Sure some places need more days... any suggestions about certain cities to see a lot of what's there?  Obviously I'll be out of work, so I can stay for any amount of time, but that leads to the next question...

-Realistically how much will it cost?  I've read up a lot on this and most people say 75-100 a day a min and thats pushing it... not worried so much about you guys answering this, but if you have insight that'd be cool.

-Is there a better month to do it?  I'm thinking may and june.

-suggestions on what to/not to bring

Lastly... Anyone wanna come? haha... more the merrier!

This is pretty early in my planning - I really only have a few ideas, which is why I'm kinda asking for a lot of general help.  Thanks Smile

Well, from what I've heard, Paris is not really a fun city to be in.  The people are assholes, and apparently they don't believe in air conditioning either.  Maybe find one or two things there you'd like to visit (museums, parks, tourist traps, whatever) then book it to the French countryside.  My friend said the people there were much nicer and the experience there was overall much more enjoyable.  That's about all I can comment on though.

You should look up back-packing blogs and projects and follow in their footsteps. Also did you pick a law school yet? It'd be funny to find you as a classmate.

Naw I haven't... I set up a meeting at Suffolk though to just chat - It's a pretty well respected school around here, and I think fairly easy to get into with decent score/gpa - So it's my main school right now.  They also have some really nice dual degree programs with MS in Finance or something... I'm hoping for something like that.  I'll be looking into the NY/NJ area too since I lived there for 4 years as well.  Have you decided where you're going?

UF is supposed to be one of the best deals in the country based on tuition vs rankings. Plus I'd know someone there.

......I'm no good at making friends (I'm no funbucks).

How do you check specializations, I keep trying to figure that out. I keep seeing that they have classes in the 2 fields I'm interested in but I don't know how good they are or how in depth the program is....

Re: Eurotrip? - Professor Funbucks - 10-13-2009

I'd be down for a eurotrip...but I'd have to figure out costs and then save up like a motherfucker.

not sure if this is actually the extent, but it seems like it... also the joint degree has some more specialization - I looked thru the schedule tho and see classes that would go toward other concentrations, but not set plans.. i dunno
