Risen - Eschatos - 10-24-2009
It's hella hard, but really fun. Much much much better than Gothic 3. If you like action RPGs buy it or torrent it.Â

Heard it was pretty medocre.
I'd rather hold off and wait till Dragon Age: Origins, assuming that doesn't suck.

Risen is not a bad game. The difficulty is pretty rewarding and the combat is a lot more fun than the newer elder scrolls game. Its unfortunate that you are forced to fight in a 3rd person view with no lock on mechanic whatsoever. When you are fighting someone and you go to attack or side step, only to find yourself totally out of position it sucks to have to either try to dash in the appropriate direction to get our opponent in front of you or to simply turn around and hope not to get hit while doing so.

I haven't had any problems with the combat so far, other than the fact that it takes lots of practice/good timing to do good. So far in my opinion it has the best combat of any recent action RPG.Â

Im assuming then you are fighting with a sword and shield. Try fighting with a staff and let me know how your combat experience goes
