TBAG Agenda - cannedpeahes - 08-10-2008 I've been asked a lot lately what I intend to do with my T-BAG. It's a question I ask myself, mostly because I often have as little idea as the people who ask me. Mostly, I stick to the personal system of not doing anything until things are certain, and they aren't: our team is still four balls short of a centipedes' nutsack, and I've been waiting on practice dates from some eager BAL-SACKs. However, so as not to let my T-BAG fester and stagnate, I'm scheduling a practice for this Monday (Aug. 11) at 8:00 EST. This is two days before I move, I will be busy packing all day, don't disappoint me. It will involve the current eight members, plus four pubs. If you're interested in being one of these extra bodies (if everything goes according to plan, you will spend most of your time as bodies) then send me a PM or post in here. Thanks for stopping by. Would you like some tea? Re: TBAG Agenda - copulatingduck - 08-10-2008 What's the format you're wanting? 6v6, 8v8, 12v12, etc etc. edit: also, dunno what you think, but people are talking Both teams are made up of star players for sure, but (since it was only ever supposed to be semi-serious after all), it's extremely difficult to ever get anything done (for lack of available people...) Re: TBAG Agenda - Eschatos - 08-10-2008 I'm not sure if I'm a member or not. Re: TBAG Agenda - ainmosni - 08-10-2008 (08-10-2008, 12:17 AM)CopulatingDuck link Wrote: What's the format you're wanting? 6v6, 8v8, 12v12, etc etc. It's not lack of people, it's lack of organisation... Unifying T-Bag and Bal-Sack as one and training together will help but the most important part is a leader that does all the organising and does so with an iron fist. See this post for my thoughts... Re: TBAG Agenda - Radio Raheem - 08-10-2008 I can be one of those extra bodies if you want. Re: TBAG Agenda - K2 - 08-10-2008 I can be there as one of the pubs. I kept meaning to tryout, but God didn't want me on the team apparently (so many scheduling conflicts). Re: TBAG Agenda - ConsFEARacy - 08-10-2008 I should be able to make it. Re: TBAG Agenda - ZargonX - 08-10-2008 I will probably be a little late. Re: TBAG Agenda - cannedpeahes - 08-10-2008 (08-10-2008, 12:32 PM)K2 link Wrote: I can be there as one of the pubs. Between you, Eschatos, Scotty, and Luca (please?), and a million, billion others, I've had enough additional commitments that if you could all just message me when you want me to observe you playing, I could fill this team out right now; but nobody has solicited me to come and watch, so I haven't.
I know people are talking, I've seen it. As of today, neither Kor nor I have been the omnipresent captains we could have been. The reason I made this thread was because I saw that, and a lot of good players are committed to TBAG and I don't feel like squandering the effort that they've put into it. My one fear about merging the teams is that it would become a BRBU "boys' club". If you look at the rosters of each of the teams, you'll hardly spot somebody who is new to the group. Most of us are old guard, and it becomes kind of an issue for the newbies when they see, "Hey, all the people that you put on your team are people you know." I did my best to just pick people that worked, and when I realized what people worked well together I saw the problem with making these teams: teamwork happens best between old friends. I've been thinking about this... and I might have a solution for this... Do it like my local football club does and make multiple teams... Hace a setup where there are coaches who do the out of game tactical/team division/scheduling and have in-game captains who will lead their teams in the field. This will prohibit the scrim team from being a good ol' boys club by essentially letting everybody who wants to do some (semi-)serious business in but also will offer greater tactical flexibility because you don't have this barrier between t-bag and bal-sack... This will also solve the substitute problem and (I think) will make the practice days a lot more enjoyable and make gaining entrance to the scrim teams a lot more open for new people... Essentially this is a mind fart but I think this or a variation of it might work quite well... Re: TBAG Agenda - cbre88x - 08-10-2008 Radio should def. get on the team merger. He's along the lines of Sweater and Niceguy Soldier-wise. Re: TBAG Agenda - Wedge - 08-10-2008 Radio Raheem is a pretty good player and an EXCELLENT communicator above all else. Re: TBAG Agenda - cannedpeahes - 08-10-2008 Radio is really fucking good, yes.
The only issue I see with this - not something I mind, but something I felt I ought to bring up - is that if we make it that open then eventually it's going to be most of our community. Everybody will be involved. We'll be an over-200-member clan. I don't necessarily have a problem with this. I mean, to each his own. Any member could (and can) start a team as easily as me and Kor have. These are by no means "official" teams. But by creating these "field" teams then we allow anybody and everybody to be a part of this (and most people will want to be a part of it), where it was only supposed to be a small sect of the most hardcore. Re: TBAG Agenda - Ianki - 08-10-2008 i'll show up perhaps as an extra body. Depends how productive i am today and tomorrow. Re: TBAG Agenda - ScottyGrayskull - 08-10-2008 I'll be there. As for organization... Well... Some people will need to have a talk. Re: TBAG Agenda - Versus - 08-10-2008 I'll be too doped up to do anything. Re: TBAG Agenda - Radio Raheem - 08-10-2008 Seems to be a lot of love for me around here all of a sudden. If you guys want me to try out or whatever let me know anytime I'm on. Otherwise I can always be some decent competitions in scrims or practices if you need it. Let the coach(es) see who plays best with who and which team they'll go in. Every team will play with each other the most but sometimes players will be switched for one of many reasons. It's a way to coordinate all the teams from one spot and making them less separate. |
