Gmod Server Downloads and the like. - WTF Joel - 12-17-2009

SERVER IP: 69.90.34.240:27015

Server is either running Fretta, or Sandbox. The Maps contains both Fretta, and Sandbox maps.

- To run this map properly, you need to Right-Click Garrysmod in STEAM, Choose Properties, Set Launch Options, and put "+r_hunkalloclightmaps 0" without the quotes.

For those of you who don't know how svn works, here is a tutorial:

   1. Get a suitable SVN client (Tortoise SVN is a good choice: http://TortoiseSVN.net)
   2. Create a folder in addons (or gamemodes) and name it the mod/gamemode you are downloading.
   3. Right click the new folder, and choose "SVN Checkout"
   4. Enter the svn url.
   5. Press OK
   6. After the download completes, make sure that it's added correctly. Some svn's will download separate addon folders inside the folder you made, and you'll have to move them out of your folder to the addons one.
   7. If you had to re-arranged the folders, go ahead and delete the folders you don't need (Probably the one you created originally since it would now be empty.

To update: Right click on the appropriate folder(s) and choose SVN update to update to the latest version.

Does custom GM stuff get updated so frequently that it typically requires SVN? That's quite thoughtful of them to use it :o

It's been the popular thing for the more popular addons. Most notably, wiremod. That normally updates once every 1 or 2 weeks.

So is this server down again? Eightball's isn't up either.  What's the scoop?


Will someone teach me to Wiremod?  I suck so hard at it.  Plus, I usually get killed by spores homing-platform of death when I play with him. Think proximity sensors, boosters, and hoverballs all welded to a square panel floating at head level.

Mine's only a listen server, I just put it up once in a while when people on mumble feel like playing it. Joel/Wolfwood's is a more official, dedicated one. Also the addons in my thread are all pending; we're probably going to keep adding more for a few days. I wouldn't worry about it until I'm back at university with either a 10 meg up speed or switch to dedicated.

I still don't know what fretta is, but I'm going to try to figure out wiremod sometime this year  ??? Tongue.

Also what is your IP? All of the addresses I've seen posted have been vague and I can't tell if "Trouble In Terrorist Town" is related to this fretta thing.

Fretta is a gamemode base that was just recently implemented into garrysmod. It includes multiple gamemodes that run a certain length of time/rounds, then it has a vote for plays to choose what the next gamemode will be. Trouble In Terrorist Town is one of the gamemodes available to stock gmod. Sadly, sandbox is not one of the gamemodes you can choose from, so its either the fretta gamemodes, or we can change it over to sandbox if you so like. Contact with me or wolfwood to do that for you, chances are I'm around during the day more than wolfwood, cause I have no life. At all.
