Need Some Help Here - Badgerman of DOOM - 12-23-2009 Alright, I just got L4D2. The game runs fine with only one issue- I cannot see the other survivors or any uncommon Infected fully. For the survivors, I can see their clothing, but their heads are just patches of hair. The uncommon infected are either totally invisible or very, very transparent. Other than that it runs like a dream. This laptop also runs L4D flawlessly. So, can anybody help me find out why this is happening? Re: Need Some Help Here - Badgerman of DOOM - 12-26-2009 Bump, and with screenshots that show the problem. http://s163.photobucket.com/albums/t295/Badgerman_of_DOOM/Vidja%20Gaems/L4D2/ Re: Need Some Help Here - CaffeinePowered - 12-26-2009 This befuddles me, have you tried updating all your drivers? Re: Need Some Help Here - HeK - 12-27-2009 Wow, thats kinda awesome. Update video drivers, play around with texture and model quality settings? Re: Need Some Help Here - Badgerman of DOOM - 12-27-2009 HeK, I messed around with the settings and pretty much nothing happened. I'll fiddle some more. Also, I'll update my drivers, see if it helps. EDIT- Updated drivers, no change except that I can hear halfway through the opening video now. Validating Steam files again, seeing if it will help. All graphical things on medium, paged pool usage on high. EDIT THE SECOND- 1 file failed to validate, this has happened like 3 times. Re: Need Some Help Here - Neonie - 12-27-2009 The background of your photobucket is zetta slow. Also, smoker actually has some degree of terror when it's transparent. Fucking creepy yo. Maybe you should delete and reinstall? Re: Need Some Help Here - copulatingduck - 12-27-2009 delete the file/gcf that keeps failing to validate, save the rest. saves you from having to download n-GB all over agian Re: Need Some Help Here - Badgerman of DOOM - 12-27-2009 I think I will try to reinstall again. EDIT- I did, no change. Settings for video are: Aspect Ratio 16:10 (widescreen) Resolution 1280x800 Display Mode fullscreen Anti-Aliasing Mode none Filtering Mode Bilinear Wait For Vertical Sync enabled (double buffered) Shader Detail low Effect Detail low Model/Texture Detail medium Paged Pool Memory Available high and they're the recommended settings. Re: Need Some Help Here - Badgerman of DOOM - 12-30-2009 Ohai, a bump because I went on nVidia and it seems Window's Update did not see a newish driver. Installing after this song, hopefully it'll work. WELL DON'T THAT BEAT ALL. Re: Need Some Help Here - at0m - 01-10-2010 You fail for thinking Windows Update had the newest driver. Also, did updating the drivers finally fix the problem? Looking at your screenshots, its definitely a texturing problem since you're getting some of the lightmaps but not the object textures themselves (thats whats making things look translucent). Also^2, if you've got one GCF that keeps getting corrupted, make sure your Antivirus software is off and try playing again. Failing that, you may have a HDD thats starting to flake out on you ;x |
