My First PS3 (Network Issues) - Maxon - 12-25-2009 Well I was very lucky to get a PS3 for Christmas (I can no longer be called a fanboy! ), but it is giving me the worst network issues right now. Figured I'd post over here also to get a few more brains in on this to help me out since I also have a thread on the official forums. The most basic of the problem is that it seems to want to play hell with the router. Most of the time it'll connect to the PSN, but when I go to download things, it'll kick the internet out, drop out of PSN, and even make my PC lose internet for a quick bit. Once or twice it forced me to go to reset the router. I've currently tried doing a static IP for both wired and wireless, using 192.168.1.250 along with first/second DNS as 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4. Neither seemed to work very well. When first going for this, I got the system update and MAG beta download just fine. Then when I had to download the bulk of the MAG download, it started the disconnection issues. Got it downloaded eventually, but lucky for me, those servers don't open for another week lol After fiddling with the connections again, I was able to get Resistance 2 updated and play that for abit (Rather ugly game I think with no brightness settings. Need more time in it.). Then when I went to try and update Uncharted 2, it did the disconnection, and this was on the wireless settings with both normal and static IP. I have done one factory reset of the router since I needed my password info again, but that hasn't affected anything. Right now I could really use some help to figure out why my PS3 seems to hate my router. Re: My First PS3 (Network Issues) - cbre88x - 12-25-2009 are you doing a custom or easy setup when you go to setup your network connections? I've tried both for Wireless and Wired. On the usual default easy settings was what I started with and had the initial problems. Re: My First PS3 (Network Issues) - KarthXLR - 12-25-2009 Maybe you need to get a better moderm or router? Sounds to me like the thing is sucking up all your bandwith. Except that this only happened when I connected the PS3? Before this, I could play on my 360 with zero issues and we had another laptop on the network. Right now, it's just two computers and one laptop. Re: My First PS3 (Network Issues) - cbre88x - 12-25-2009 try changing channels Re: My First PS3 (Network Issues) - Maxon - 12-25-2009 Through the router settings? I know abit, but not sure about channels. No problem! One 20mb update? Fuck off! If it wasn't something on my end, wouldn't more people have the same problem? In recent stuff, I've only seen one other who looked to have similar issues. Re: My First PS3 (Network Issues) - cbre88x - 12-26-2009 keep looking for a solution but if it doesnt happen tomorrow I wouldnt worry about it. Re: My First PS3 (Network Issues) - Surf314 - 12-26-2009 Yea seems like its an issue with their servers. Re: My First PS3 (Network Issues) - Darklink - 12-26-2009 Naughty Dog has been having some problems and a select few aren't able to update Uncharted 2. Re: My First PS3 (Network Issues) - Maxon - 12-26-2009 Still not able to update today and the first try killed everything so I had to reset the router. *EDIT* Scratch that. I disabled the media server connection and it seems to be working fine. Wireless connections are still open, internet isn't popping out, and I'm downloading the Uncharted 2 stuff just fine.
