RAM Issues fixed? Need some help from you smart people - Surf314 - 01-12-2010

So I got my build off the newegg sales and my RAM isn't fully compatible with my mobo/proc because of AMD being shitty about certain memory whatever. Anyways I think I've found someone in the same boat that has fixed his problems:

I figure update my BIOS and set my settings to what he has and I'm good! Except one major problem! In the past anytime I've tried to even just up the voltage I get crashes, BSOD's or just failures to boot. I have 4 chips totalling 8 gigs and he has 2. Now could this be a heat issue? Do I need a RAM cooler of some kind as well?

I sent a message to gskill support because I finally saw their e-mail address.

So it seems the problem is 4 chips put a lot of strain on the memory controller. So here is the big question - is it better to have 4 gigs of fast memory and wait for a bios update to possibly let me go to 8 gigs, or to have 8 gigs of nothing special speed memory?

Personally? I'd go with four gigs.

:'( It's like sophie's choice. The good news is G.Skill and ASUS are working on a BIOS update that should fix the issues and maybe let me have all 8.
