Old TV died, need recomendations for a new one. - KarthXLR - 08-19-2010 I used have a 20" TV in my room that I would play Wii or PS2 games on, but it started sparking and flashing random colors, and now I can barely turn it on for a couple seconds. I want to upgrade to small widescreen/HD TV to replace my old one so that I can move my PS3 upstairs. Any recommendations on a new one or brand? Re: Old TV died, need recomendations for a new one. - Ianki - 08-19-2010 anything cheap for discerning fathers. Also, i'm really happy with my widescreen LCD monitor. It was pretty cheap, like 120 bucks, and has two hdmi ports so you can just upgrade (of course this wouldn't work for the ps2...) Re: Old TV died, need recomendations for a new one. - Didzo - 08-19-2010 Sony Bravia. Not the cheapest, but it's purdy. Re: Old TV died, need recomendations for a new one. - Eightball - 08-19-2010 Mmm, you could try what I did. Instead of having a monitor and TV in your room, you could try a "hybrid", generally a TV that has good resolution and has inputs abound for your game consoles. Here's the one I bought. Despite a few display problems early on, I have few complaints with it. Note that when I plug my PS2 via composite input the picture quality's pretty bad. This doesn't apply to Wii in either composite or component input, so I think it might just be my PS2. I'll let you know when I buy a composite cable for it, too. Now, I know you don't have your computer in your room (god, you should), but when you go to university and live in the dorms you'll be glad to have such a space-saver. Plus when you move into an apartment with friends, you'll still have gaming central already with you. Re: Old TV died, need recomendations for a new one. - Surf314 - 08-20-2010 Eightball has a good suggestion, other than that I'd stick with the big brands. Buying off brands in technology is just asking for it. I like Sony, Samsung, LG, Asus, and I can't think of anymore. I have a 32" Samsung that I love, at least when I look for TVs I want the one with the most hook-ups in the back, some that Ive seen more recently only have like 1 RCA, 1 HD Component or 1/2 HDMI. The TV I got.... 3 RCA 2 Svideo 1 PC VGA 3 HDMI 2 HD Component Optical Audio Then again, I have a lot of shit to hook up, from the NES up to the 360. Re: Old TV died, need recomendations for a new one. - Versus - 08-20-2010 my TV is exactly what eightball has, it owns not quite as bright as my samsung PC monitors, but i only noticed when i put them next to each other Re: Old TV died, need recomendations for a new one. - Didzo - 08-20-2010 (08-20-2010, 08:05 PM)Versus-pwny- link Wrote: my TV is exactly what eightball has, it owns I just discovered that my sister has the same thing in her room as a TV only.
