Looking for a Netbook - Live-Free-Or-Pie - 08-03-2011 Hokay, so it looks like my job is going to require me to do a little bit of traveling. I don't own a laptop & my Nintendo DS doesn't do e-mail. So I'm in the market for a Netbook. I'm not looking for a tablet and I don't want an Apple product. I fully understand that net-books aren't going to be as powerful as my rig Requirements: - Be able to run a web browser with flash and mooch free wi-fi - Be able to run GNU office software - Be able to run pre-downloaded video files - Battery life that isn't shitty - USB ports for mouse & flash memory - Decent Netbook Processor (1.66 Ghz) - Can be upgraded to 2 gig memory - Budget is $300-ish Stuff that would be nice: - Can run Steam & basic games (http://reviews.cnet.com/2300-3121_7-10002002.html?tag=mncol;txt) - Be able to stream Netflix without shitting the bed - Keyboard/trackpad that dosen't suck Stuff I don't care that much about - Size/Weight (so long as it's not outlandish) Any recommendations? Â :-\ Or do you not care about size so long as it's under 12in? Anyhow, here's a decent one for under $300. It has the N550 instead of the N570 processor, but it has a better battery life (13hr vs 10hr) and is cheaper than an identical netbook with the newer processor. Might be worth checking out the Brazos family of processors. High end is the E-350. |
