Laptop messenger bags? - KarthXLR - 08-10-2011 I know this seems a bit odd for a topic, but I'm having trouble finding ones I like online, especially considering I can't try them out. I'm looking for something to carry my 15.6" laptop, my books, and other supplies around in. I've seem a few recommendations, but they range from too flimsy to really expensive. Does anybody have any recommendations or am I better off trying a store for them? Re: Laptop messenger bags? - Ianki - 08-10-2011 Starting your hipster makeover early? Re: Laptop messenger bags? - Ianki - 08-10-2011 Also, you should have just necro'ed frye's 3 year old thread.  It was one step from that, to asking is he should start smoking, and getting run out of dodge. (i still stick by my old advice of getting this.  It melts hipster panties.  You just need to prove you own a fixie before you can buy it. Ah well. I'll check the thread. Edit: I'm thinking about going for a Timbuk2 or a Chrome. Just wondering what size I would need. Re: Laptop messenger bags? - Didzo - 08-11-2011 If you're willing to spend a little extra money (even on sale items), go to a better department store or any designer stores that are either European in origin or have "vintage" wares. As far as personal preference goes, I like Tumi for this sort of thing. Tumi has a line of bags, backpacks, and luggage meant for carrying electronics and looking cool and whatnot. They are expensive even on sale, but they look sharp and can withstand daily abuse better than cheaper products. I've had the same Tumi laptop bag for over ten years and it's withstood constant travel and everyday use. Not sure if they make bags as well as they used to though. Re: Laptop messenger bags? - HeK - 08-11-2011 Dexter Re: Laptop messenger bags? - KarthXLR - 08-11-2011 Yikes. Those options are too expensive fellas. I'm probably going to end up getting a timbuk2 bag. It's just better suited for me, and the asking price is right. Re: Laptop messenger bags? - Surf314 - 08-11-2011 Tumi is serious quality, those bags that Ianki recommended look crazy awesome though. I'm thinking about getting one. Re: Laptop messenger bags? - rumsfald - 08-11-2011 From what I hear - Chrome can be good, but big, also heavy. - Timbuk2 can be good, also a little overly commercial I would also add Rickshaw . They make a great ipad bag, and several options for various sizes. I would also say that that bumbackpack was of inferior quality the when i bought one. My first (and only bag, from their early gen) had the straps disintegrate in the first year(3+ years ago). I give them some kudos for ideas/design but big negatives for delivery. Again, I have not re-bought in a while. Re: Laptop messenger bags? - Vlambo - 08-11-2011 Get a fucking Swiss Gear backpack with a laptop sleeve. $25 CAN, and has not died after 2 years of uni use. My previous Swiss Gear lasted 5 years, until my sister decided the zipper shouldnt stay together. Its a fucking bag. You don't need to break the bank. Re: Laptop messenger bags? - Luinbariel - 08-12-2011 I would love a bag from timbuk 2 as well but when I get it all customized it's a big pricey. Re: Laptop messenger bags? - WaR1761 - 08-12-2011 Tumi, Alpha series go for the ballistic nylon, BAMF bags had mine for 3 years, top notch and you will be set when you leave school and get a real job . Re: Laptop messenger bags? - [fr31ns]Karrde - 08-12-2011 Actually, for a laptop bag a messenger bag *is* more practical. If you're biking I mean. Imagine if a backpack popped open while riding. You'd be all "FFFFFFFFFFFFFF"!!!!!
