PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - CaffeinePowered - 12-05-2012 This weekend I'd like to try to see what we could do as a 'quick response' unit on our flanks. We've done very well flanking and taking territory, but it seems as soon as we shift gears to move and take more areas, we'll look back in 20-30 minutes and see half of it taken back again by a small platoon or zerg. What we need: - Galaxy Pilots - Grunts - Air Support - 24 - 30 people Time: 8 pm EST Be on Mumble, you cunts If you can come out please do, we'll have plenty of space in the galaxies to fill out Alpha Squad: 1xGalaxy Pilot 1xInfiltrators 2xMedics 2xLight Assault 1xEngineer 1xMAX 4xHeavyAssault Bravo Squad: 1xGalaxy Pilot 1xInfiltrators 2xMedics 2xLight Assault 1xEngineer 1xMAX 4xHeavyAssault Charlie Squad: 2x A2A Scythes 2x A2G Scythes 1x Liberator General Tactics: - Drop Onto Site - Alpha/Bravo SLs drop beacons immediately - Infiltrators hack vehicle term -> Someone pulls a sundy bus w/AMS - Clear out their sunderer, kill everything, revert capture - Load up galaxies, off to the next fire If you have downloaded and tried out or played PS2 at all, get on for ops night, or if you haven't played at all, its free, and things like this you don't want to miss. We will conclude the night by gal-bombing something (hopefully the fucking crown) Praetorian Guard [PG] Planetside 2 Galaxy Operations (video #2) Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - Ianki - 12-05-2012 Pre-emptive un-recruiting of karth for galaxy pilot. i'll be happy to engi for the team, and squad lead bravo or charlie. I'm one or two sessions away from a fully upgraded glue-gun, and my ammo pack is second to last level in upgrades, but i can't fly for shit and my maxes have a bug where people like to shoot at it a lot. Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - Evil Cheese - 12-05-2012 My interest in this game has been growing so I'll try to download it and get a little PT in before the weekend. Hopefully I'll have time this weekend to join in. I was thinking about going either medic or heavy. Which is better for a noob and/or requires the least amount of unlocks to be effective as? Also, you guys are Vanu right? Also, you guys are Vanu right? Server is Mattherson, Faction is Vanu All classes are effective with absolutely no unlocks. Most basic infantry upgrades cost 1 - 30 certs which you can get very easily. You don't need to pay any money to be effective on the ground. Vehicles arguably you do (or grind a lot) especially for the secondary guns on the liberator or magrider. What we seem to usually have less of are Engineers / Maxes / Infiltrators, we got plenty of Heavies and Medics. If you're the only engineer in a group of heavies you can farm lots of XP off of ammo drops. If I were you Id make a character now, and just log in every day because you get passively like 14 - 16 certs a day for doing nothing but logging in. Check the 'worth it' thread for info on cheap certs you can snag. Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - KorJax - 12-05-2012 Wish I could go to these but being a pizza driver means I'm doomed to always be working till 1am on saturdays ah wells Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - Mission Difficult - 12-05-2012 I should be able to make it as engineer. Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - Didzo - 12-05-2012 I'll be able to perform as A2G Scyth or HA. I can also pilot Gals well, but would rather have some more action rather than babysitting the dumb thing all the time. You get XP for all the people who got out of it on the drop, also you can land the thing and then run in to join the action Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - Didzo - 12-05-2012 (12-05-2012, 03:33 PM)Caffeine link Wrote:
You get XP for all the people who got out of it on the drop, also you can land the thing and then run in to join the action
Deploy bonus doesn't last for long at all and requires a successful drop on a concentrated group of enemies. Sometimes it gets you some good points, but it's uncommon. From experience, by the time the Gal is landed in relative safety, most of the hot action is already taken care of. And every time I've left a Gal unattended for >30 seconds at a time I find myself running back to it for reps because something or other is taking potshots at it. Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - Sogo - 12-05-2012 I am perfectly okay with flying something, I'll have certed out at least one aircraft by Saturday. Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - [fr31ns]Karrde - 12-05-2012 MAX or Engi here. Also would like to have SL somewhere. Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - CaffeinePowered - 12-05-2012 Quote:Karrde link=topic=6661.msg257973#msg257973 date=1354746234] There is no CEP, leading gets you nothing extra Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - [fr31ns]Karrde - 12-05-2012 Except OMG DROP SPAWN BEACONS doesn't get yelled as much  Also, don't forget the Giraffe cammo. You know that shit's gettin nerfed at some point. Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - CorpseFactor - 12-05-2012 I normally run Medic or Engie Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - Evil Cheese - 12-05-2012 I tried to play a bit tonight but my FPS is so low it's unplayable with any number of enemies on the screen. I'm blaming it on only having 2 GB of RAM. I'll see if I can fiddle with some settings and try again when I have more patients. Check the ini file thread, there's a lot you can do Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - Evil Cheese - 12-06-2012 I tried a lot of things in that thread but those are mostly for optimizing CPU and GPU performance. I have a decent graphics card (the game set me to high by default), processor load is manageable, and I have FIOS for my internet connection. The real problem is running the game puts me at 100% memory utilization and there isn't a lot of optimization I can do for that on my side aside from killing system processes. After doing a little searching it seems the minimum requirement for the final release is 4 GB of RAM. Even though the game launches with 2, it can't run for shit. Looks like I won't be joining in until I get more RAM (which should be soon when I plan to upgrade my mobo and CPU as well). Re: PS Saturdays: 12-8 Fire Fighting - k0ala - 12-06-2012 Get the RAM this weekend, it will help you in everything more than just Planetside. So much time and bullshit waiting for Windows to page away to virtual memory...
This. My current mobo is like six years old and only supports DDR2. I've been holding off on buying new RAM until I upgrade. |
